Guilty me......I'm a diet coke freak. I've been cutting down because is not good for my diet but I can't leave it from one day to another. Everyday, I tried to drink less and try to drink more water or Crystal Light. But, I'm trying hard.

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

I happen to be a big coffee drinker since surgery. I did wait a few months before having it. For me i find sipping it throught the morning supresses my appetite and i dont eat as much. For me its the lesser of two evils. Before surgery i would live on diet pepsi but since surgery have not had even a sip. Have no desire. I am actually afraid of the terrible feeling it would give me with bloating and gas. Now i just have snapple diet ice tea or crystal lite. Im sure there are studies on this, i will look later and see if i can find some in my medical stuff but for the most part moderation is key to everything. We are all different and will explore with different things.

Love Ya

Question

I was given this website. lightparty.com/health/directcokeaspartame.html

Read and pass along to everyone. I decided that I'm going to prevent diet coke from now on and try juices.

I haven't had soda since my surgery, but do drink some coffee and teas. My doc said in moderation diet soda's would be ok after the first year.. I plan not to start drinking them again!! But I guess we will see

Be careful of juices, although they are healthier than soda pops, juices also have calories and can be loaded with carbs. Everything should be in moderation. Nothing, no matter how good people say of certain things, if done in excess is good. The key word is moderation and good balance.
There is no miracle product, diligent effort and work is what works in the end.

On the other hand, about the link you have given.
Have you checked the top page of the site?
This is very political, and unrelated to WLS and the objective for this site, so I am going to disable the link for now.
If anyone is curious, please copy in the url into the address bar.

SHH....did you mention the "D" word....Donut?????

I've forgotten, tell me again what that's like!

Seriously, I agree, I have to have my morning coffee, although these days I add a bit more protein and I have cut down to 1/4 caffeine (one block of decaf coffee, mixed with Lite or 1/2 caff in my coffee canister).

Question drinking with meals

i am a reg coke nut... I am trying to ween myself off it gradually before my surgery date so it won't be such a shock to my system, I don't drink coffee or tea so it has been hard trying to find my liquid source of caffeine, i love an ice cold coke... i am giddy just thinking about it
On my last visit to my nutritionist she told me that I will have to stop drinking carbonated beverages but she then told me that i can't drink any liquids an hour before i want to eat and that i can't drink any liquids for an hour after i eat or i will vomit... is this a immediate post op thing that will change over time or is it a life changing thing that i will have to abide by for the rest of my life?
I am a little concerned about this, i have never read about it before
has anyone been told this?
if so is it really hard to abide by??

It is a life long thing. And, every post op knows. This rule is all over the board, actually, and there are a number of threads on this board, and in the home pages of the Renewed Reflections website as well.

Check out the Pouch Rules.
Also another Pouch Rule thread here as well.
Another Pouch Rule thread.

The no drinkig rule is to prevent the food from being washed out of your pouch before you learn to feel full, and also to prevent you from grazing and going back to your bad eating habits.

Lilly,
Before I had my surgery I am/was a Pepsi addict. To this day I still have not had a Pepsi and I am almost 2 years out. The drinking rule is for life because the liquids wash down food faster. You will learn to live with this, it is much easier than you think. Once you have surgery, you will not have room in your pouch to drink and eat at the same time. As you get further out, it will not cause you to vomit but it will cause you to be hungry again sooner and inturn eat more and eventually gain weight. I wish you best with your surgery.

LILY, for me those are lifetime changes.
AND part of the pouch rules my surgeon
set fourth.
20 months out i have not touched a carbonated
drink nor have i drank with my meals. I am strict
on those rules.

ONE reason that makes clear sense to me why is that
it will push your food thru you pouch to soon causeing
you to get hungry to soon. JUST part of good habits.

ALSO with all the bad press on diet beverages ...its
been said alot lately how it causes cravings and increased
appetitie just another reason i need to stay clear of
even diet sodas and trust me like others here i was a diet
pepsi addict pre op.......i dont drink tea and coffee so it
was my caffine.

HUGS
