Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Good question Boots. I've thought the same thing so I'm curious to see what Doc has to say about it.

I have not heard either way...that Post-ops can or can't take them. I will ask what my surgeon/nutritionist think about this at my next support group meeting. I'll let you know what they say. Interesting question, and now THIS inquiring mind wants to know!

I'm kinda wondering why we should need to take them - certainly in the honeymoon phase.

I'm sure I'm not alone in not being able to take in the amount of calories I'm supposed to anyway.

I have thought the same thing. Especially now that I am almost a year out and starting to get hungrier it seems. i have thought about an appetitie suppressant. I have this fear of going backwards. I have 6 more pounds to go and it seems impossible to get there, but the thought of gaining and going backwards is terrifying to me!

The answer is an emphatic NO!!!
No offense, but, are you looking for an easy way out? You do know that the effect of such pills are temporary, don't you? In other words, they will work only so long as you are taking them, and once you are off them, back you go to where you started. I'm sure many of you have had that experience, even if you were prescribed these pills by your dr. So, for one, do you want to take these pills forever, throughout your life, the same as with all the supplements you need to take? Do you want to go back to your days of yo-yo dieting, which, taking such meds will surely throw you back into?

I can understand the fears you all have of going back, and gaining what you lost, but trust and believe that this will work for you, because, of all the treatments for obesity that has been devised by the medical community, this surgery, and your concious effort of changing your eating habits and lifestyle to a healthy one is the method that has the best, and the most long lasting success.

There are lots of people who can attest to this. Craig for one. He is 10 years out, doing very well, and having spent some time with him and Leslie, his wife, I know that he will continue to be successful, because I have seen how he eats, and how he lives. He makes healthy choices. He eats in moderation. I know he sometimes grazes and munches, but that is in moderation, too. In other words, watching him eat, I can't even see him gaining weight, because he doesn't heap his plate, and even if his plate is heaped up when we went out to eat, he only ate what he could, and left food on his plate if it was too much.

The key to your sucess, is not trying to control your hunger with meds, it's setting up habits that will help your pouch work as it should. Do not be afraid of the hunger. If try eating the way you did before when you felt hungry. I'm sure you'll have to quit even before you can eat 1/10 of what you ate before. So, go by what your pouch tells you, and keep to the pouch rules. Less than 2,3 years out, you still have your feelers out, you are still learning the feel of your pouch, so not everything is set up at an easy pace. You had your bad habits for how many years? It isn't going to go away in a few months.

Trust your pouch. You'll do fine.
