Question Whadda ya think??

My Mom called this morning with some bad news, my sister has lymphoma. We went to see her this afternoon, and we will be going with her to the hospital tomorro for a biopsy. She said if it is malignant and they want to do chemo she will refuse, ONLY BECAUSE she does not want her hair to fall out. We told her that it was just hair and it will grow back, she was adamant that she would never be seen without hair. I was thinking on the drive back home that I would offer her a deal tomorro: IF it is malignant and she agrees to chemo, I will give up my hair with her. I really dont mind losing my hair, in fact I have buzzed it off a couple of times before, just cause I liked it (I am crazy, I know). I told her we have nice shaped heads in our family and people will be jealous! I dont want to force my medical opinion on her but I lost a friend last year who had lymphoma and refused treatment and I dont want to lose my sister next.

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

OMG Tracii,....
Tell your sister not to refuse treatment she has know idea how much it will help her . i work at a cancer institute and she desperately needs to follow the doctors orders lymphoma doesn't have to be the end of her life she can still live a long time to lose her hair for a few months is nothing to go through she can wear a wig until it grows back the have beatiful human hair wigs that shee can wear during that time she must have chemo and not be selfish and think of the people that love her hair is a minor thing compared to her life and then she;ll wish later down the line when she is on her death bed that she would of did everthing possible to save her self but it will be to late she has to do what ever the doctor orders when ha orders it she doesn't know how important it is to follow through with what they want her to do now , plus her hair will grow back super quick after chemo is done . tell her to please do whatever they want of her i see this first hand every day she doesn't want to be non compliant with this it is not a joke and this is not something that she can wait on i wish it was that simply to lose weight i would be the first in line to lose my hair . please keep us updated on her

ooooohhhhhh, Traci - I hate that you and your sis are having to go thru this. I think it's an awesome idea for you to do that for her. A friend of mine is a breast cancer survivor and I remember when her hair fell out - she just buzzed it and bought wigs - which she hated and only wore 3 times - but she did well with chemo and is doing well now (she did have a mastectomy). I think your sis may be trying to come to terms with what is happening to her, your support is invaluable; hopefully, she'll realize the hair issue is relatively minor. Kudos to you, you'll both be on our minds and in our prayers.

Traci your a wonderful sister to even think to do something like that for your sister. Your sister has a good chance at beating this disease if she allows them to treat it. She is going through a normal reaction right now for some. Shes gonna be very mad right now. Who wouldnt be? I pray she has guidance through this and can make the right decision.

Awwww (((((((HUGS))))))))
The stages cancer/malignancy patients are said to go through the following stages before being able to accept their condition.
Disbelief, panic/fear, anger, acceptance.
Lymphoma is one of the malignancies that is most responsive to chemotherapy. Your sister has a very good chance of overcoming the disease.
I hope, after her initial reaction, your loving support, and the loving support of your family and friends, she will agree to chemotherapy and regain her health.

I'm so sorry that your family is in this situation, but if it was me, I'd want a sister like you! That kind of support might just be what saves her life. I hope it all works out well and she takes you up on that offer! Keep us posted.

Traci, I think that is a wonderful thing to do with and for your sister. You are a wonderful sister! You just keep that attitude and you can help her get through it. Chemo may not be pleasant but it is the best shot she has to get better. And these days they have all sorts of cute hats and head covers to wear -- so if you've got a great head flaunt it!!
