Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Well, I have always needed help, but this is pertaining to 'Letting Go' I got $50, for XMas from my F-I-L, and $40. for being an awesome school bus driver.. I went and bought some clothing that actually *fit* me. Steve and Barry's was having their winter blow-out sale. Everything in the store 8.98. Winter coats, clothing, shoes, etc! I only had 45 minutes to shop, but I did. I also did a quick Target shop on their clearance Aisle. I ended up with 4 pair of jeans, 2 sweaters, underwear that FIT and 1 pair of shoes to wear when I go out for an 'adult night out'. I still need more shirts, but I have some things, albeit large, still look 'ok'. (Some friends took us out to dinner this weekend [if you dont know - we're broke] and I got to wear my black cords and new sweater. I was amazed at how nice I looked - and FELT!) Anyhow, I can't seem to get rid of the old stuff. I just can't let go. WHY???????? I can't get myself to donate them, or throw them out for rags. (I have stuff I'd never donate because it is not fit for anyone to wear!) So can anyone tell me how to get over this hurdle? Is there a technique for learning how to do this? i'd appreciate any ideas, or even hearing if you went thru this too. thanks!! randi

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | i had this problem. even when i had gotten down to a 10 i was still holding on to size 24 jeans and XXL shirts. WHY you ask? i think it was mental. honestly, there is more to this than just losing the weight. you wont be able to let the clothes go until you really really begin to accept that you are not that size anymore. i cannot explain this. you will know what i mean when it hits you. for now, keep them until you are ready. what's the rush?? |

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | I still have drawers full of clothes too large that need togo, I think we are almost like toddlers and their blankets, its our security, we have been heavy for so long and in those clothes for so long that we are scared to rid them. I have a bag full of the smaller sizes I shrunk out of ready for donation but my larger sizes are still in my drawer go figure |

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | In the past what I have found helpful, is to have a ceremony. Go and buy (if you can) something nice, wether it be a top, pants, hat, it only needs to make YOU feel nice. Wrap it in beautiful paper and put it on your bed. Get your shirt or pants that you wore the most often, that you have that strong 'connection' with, then go outside and build a small 'funeral pyre', put the garment on the top, say the words of goodbye to the old you, the old clothes, the old thinking. Set it alight. Stay and watch it burn (not only for yourself, but also for safety reasons!). Then once it is out, go inside, wash, then go and open your new present to you. And welcome the new size, the new you. Some people might think that is quite fruity, but it is something that can work. Whatever you do, I wish you well. It is never easy 'letting go'. |
