Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | well i went to the surgeon today, prepared for the worst. this was the dr that had me pegged for 180 lbs and we argued...needless to say i am at 147 lbs NO IDEA WHEN THAT HAPPEND so i was sent to the nut. who did nothing for me. just told me i need to eat more higher calorie meals more frequently *scratching head* what does that mean???? i already feel like i am bursting at the seams by night time. i think i have actually made myself puke from eating too much once or twice. i was told to add shakes and icecream? WTH?? none of this makes sense to me. realistically speaking, i AM eating more. i can eat 1/2 a cup of SOLID food, 3/4 if its mushy. i even eat candy. i've even had fast food which i dont really like but i thought the fat would "help" and im still losing. should i just let the chips fall as they may and then try to gain? i cant see myself "fighting" the loss and making myself sick off of trying to eat MORE when i am maxed out as it is. if i get too skinny will i get sick or just be "skinny". i never thought i'd be in this position. while it is not a bad one, i dont really know what to do. part of me is inmy glory as i have not been this small since the tweens, and the other part is a bit concerned...HELP! i need ideas.... |

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | How about high protein bars? Some of those really have a lot of calories in them. Otherwise, I don't have any suggestions. I hope tha siome day I will be in your position!! To have someone tell me to eat ice cream would be a dream come true. That's it!!! Ben and Jerry's "Everything but the..." ice cream!! It made me gain about 100 pounds in little or no time and I promise you will love it!! Don't do as I did though....I ate a pint everyday!! Yum!!

| Super Moderator | Protein bars are a good place to start. They are relatively balanced in protein, fat and carbs. Try starting with 200kcals or so (or one bar if it's around 150 kcal). Stick with that amount at first for a couple of weeks and see if you lose any more. If you do, add another 200 kcals, and watch for another couple of weeks. That will be one month of adding. That should give you an idea of what direction to go. You don't really need to start gaining immediately, the first thing to do is to see how much food will let you maintain your present weight. Personally, I think if you bounce around 150lbs, that should be fine. You're still less than a year out, so your system hasn't completely settled yet, your pouch is still in the trial and error stage, anyway. Are you eating only 3 meals a day, or 3 meals plus snacks? Make the total times you eat including snacks 5-6 times a day, since you can't eat much yet with each meal. That should help, too. Stay away from things that may make you dump, some things will make you dump only in large amounts, so, even if you haven'T experienced dumping with certain types of food, you may, once you start getting them in in larger amounts. Increasing the number of times you eat, but not the amount you eat at each sittings, will help you avoid dumping as well. Truthfully, I don't agree with the ice cream idea, that could send you down another spiral, including dumping. You could look into *health foods* for balanced, effecient calorie intake. Of course, if you could get in all the calories you require--which at 150lbs should be around 1800kcals per day to maintain--through regular food, that is best. One thing to note, though. 1800 kcals may be too much for you right now in the sense that your body probably is in starvation mode because of the rapid losing stage, so, if your total intake is 1000 kcals or so, getting it up to 1400 kcals probably will stop the weight loss.

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | You need to think of your health now and start putting some weight back on. I would suggest a high protein, high calorie shake of some sort to ensure you're getting all the nutrients your body needs. I would also recommend staying away from fast food, candy and other snack foods, they won't help you get healthy weight back on. I would suggest some rich foods -- but good rich -- the kind that taste delicious, are good for you and are loaded with calories. |

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | thanks doc. you always make me feel better and explain things in a way i can understand.i dont know how they tell me eat more and send me on my way. i guess the assumption is "she knows how to eat that's what got her here in the first place lol" it kind of made me mad, but i have an idea of what to do thanks to you. as always, you are appreciated PS. what if's still linger. what if i dont do this? what if i just go with what my body is doing. can i get "sick" just from being thin? not malnourished because i eat and my bloodwork is supposedly good....but am i harming myself by letting (altered) nature take its course? i have worked so hard and learning how to eat, if i change it now i think im going to end up screwing this up. i know that is not the right perspective to have, but it's taken me 9 mos to get here emotionally and eating wise. what am i doing to myself if i change this? |
