Default Antibiotics

Well here is my question. I have been sick since sunday with a sore throat and feeling icky, so yesterday I went to my pcp and he gave me Zythromax 5 day antibiotics and I took 2 yesterday and then 1 each day after that and when I got up this morning I didn't feel much better throat still hurt like heck and feeling icky.

Here is my question before surgery when I got sick and took the same antibiotics I felt so much better the next day, now after surgery is our absorption rate with meds different and then would we need to take them for a longer period of time in order to get better?

I did call my surgerons office and stumped them they are suppose to get back to me tomorrow after they talk to the surgeon himself. But thouht I would throw this out to see if others have heard anything or experienced it themselves.

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

My dr gave me a list of antibotics that I should avoid and zithromax is one of them. It is a Marcolide Antibiotic which includes Biaxin and any erythromycin's. Also on the list are any tetracycline antibiotics and Ketolide antibiotics. I am supposed to give a list to my pcp for future reference. It doesn't list why not to take them.

Yes, medication absorbtion becomes an issue post op.
Long acting meds are the most affected, as they are intended to dissolve slowly in the stomach and abosrbed. With the small pouch, it just doesn't stay long enough to dissolve and be absorbed slowly.
Liquids and oral dissolvants work the best for bypass patients.

(((((HUGS)))) I hope you feel better soon.

I know what you mean. I have had pneumonia for over 6 weeks and three courses of anyibiotics Thank God I don;t feel too bad anymore, but my chest x-ray is still yucky. O am to have another one on Monday, if it is not better I am going to have to do IV antibiotics instead and I don' have time for that, I am working about 90 hours a week right now.

Yes it could, but be sure to ask the pharmacist first if it's okay to crush. If you are givne capsul type meds, then break the capsule and just take the powder inside--though it may taste yucky, I warn you.
