The surgeon I'm going to use is the same surgeon that did Carnie Wilson's surgery, so at times people in the support group have brought her name up. I still believe that she did alot for the bariatric community, getting the word out, etc. But, she will be the first to admit that she is an "addict" of almost anything/everything. She has said that she has an addictive personality and that is something she has been living with forever and is continually trying to deal with it.

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

She (Carney wilson) also said on Oprah that she was becoming an alcoholic. She got that nipped in the bud and she looked fabulous! But it was an episode about addictions being switched after wls to things like one night stands, etc... Wow, really Al Roker and Randy? I though Al looked a little bigger, but not as bad as his before, but it's been a while since I've seen it. Did Randy really have wls? I didn't even know that!

I know! I am nervous as well. I saw a man who had surgery right before my hubby and he has gained all of his weight back. All of it. Of course, this is the same man who was trying to eat steak a week out! But still it really bothers me. I keep telling myself that I didn't go through all of this to gain it back. I guess the changes in diet and personality have to be permanent.

As for Big Medicine, I was so sad for Rose. Wonder what causes our addictions? Is it really just a personality thing? Rose really bothered me last year and I was so happy to hear she had received donations, but she sabatoged herself with the shopping, but can we hold that against her? She needs to EBAY that stuff and put all that money on her surgery.

Exclamation To all of you who are nervous about weight regain

The point is, keep up with your tool and work on it. In other words, you need to stick to the healthy and in moderation eating program. That's the key to success.
And, while there are those who fail at this, there's plenty of people to prove that this works so long as you take good care of your pouch.

The host of this site, CraigT is one of the people who can prove to you that this works. He had his surgery in May 1997. I received a pic of him and his wife taken just this past NYE, and I was going to post it, but it isn't in this PC, it's in my other one, so you'll have to wait for that. However, here's the link to a thread taken in November 2005, and his most recent pic hasn't changed from that...well, actually, he probably has lost a few more lbs since then from the looks of the NYE pic. So, you see, believe in the gift you have been given, but don't take it for granted, and keep up the good work, and you'll have nothing to worry about.

i just think for me, and i dont mean to change the subject of the thread, the things that led me to eating to begin with havent been resolved and i worry that once i figure out that i CAN eat that stuff again and wont get sick, i will. i have even caught myself testing the waters and even though i get sick i try it again like a dummy. because "what does not work wone week may work the next"

i cannot sit here an flat out guarantee that i wont return to the bad habits i had pre-op and not be lying. i could "try" not to, but we all know where trying got us all before wls...and THAT is what scares me. i've been thinking about this A LOT lately, i think because maybe the change in my body is actually sinking in at times. i have lost an enormous amount of weight; an entire backstreet boy to be exact! and i wonder, if this is for real....

Quite honestly, I think everyone goes through this, and I think if you didn't, you'd be in bigger trouble, actually. Things aren't going to fall pat into place just because you've had surgery. It's the hard work that comes after, and since the path is unique and unbeaten for each individual, of course, you'll trip from time to time. Just believe in yourself, and believe that you can do it, and take things one day at a time.
