This weeks recap:

Kim: excess skin removal. last season her insurance denied her skin removal stating it was "cosmetic" WHOA. the drs got it approved finally. they remove 20.24 lbs of skin and they run into trouble with mesh from an old hernia repair, but they were able to fix that and slavage her belly button. lol!

Melissa: 37 yr old mom and wife, wants Gastric bypass but her marriage might be an issue. they quesiton what will happen to her marriage when she loses weight. they go thru counselling sessions after the surgery.

Rose: food addict (arent we all!!??) trying to qualify for surgery.te drs are trying to get her a charitable donation to get the surgery done because her ins denied her. She has transferred her addiction and has begun shopping in excess. OMG 200 handbags stuffed in a cabinet!!! a walk in closet of shopping bags FULL of clothes. NO walk in room. ok yes she needs help BUT should she be getting donations for surgery with all she is spending?

They might be really cheap handbags? She should also be contributing as much as she can towards the cost, if she can...handbags are not a necessity of life, she needs help!

Would those drs really say no to the lady who had to have marriage councelling? 'Sorry Lady, your marriage might break up if you got skinny, so you are going to have to stay fat and possibly die early from obesity related conditions instead'?? WT?? Not cool! Boo to them.

I was SSSSOOOO happy for Kim!! She is looking good! SO GLAD they didnt give up after the first time the insurance said No.

Melissa and her husband, I hope they can make it work, he seemed to have an improved attitude this week!

Rose, Rose, Rose... this lady has some issues! I would be so ashamed of myself if I were in line for a charitable surgery, and spent $2,000.00 on HANDBAGS!!! And they didnt even tell us how much she spent on all the crap in the closet! She makes me mad, she isnt even coming across as grateful to anyone for the effort they are putting out for her, I agree with MaryJo, she shouldnt have it until she makes some major progress.

I say to Rose sell all that crap in your closet and pay for the surgery yourself

I agree that Rose needs alot of help with her addiction to shopping. I would say pay the surgery herself too. But I think she will screw up her surgery afterwards. Becasue she does not even care what she eats. She seems to eat alot of the wrong foods and in just a short time when she was suppose to lose weight she gained so much weight. It was just so unbelieable all the weight that she gained in such a short time. If she gets the surgery I am afraid she will not stick to the program. She needs alot of help mentally.

Yeah I agree that Rose needs help. I know she gets all teary eyed and etc.......but come on this isnt easy for any of us. Its not a cake walk. This journey is work and we are all proof of that. So yes I agree Rose needs to get help and step up and put something into this.
And WOW how much Kim has changed. Amazing.
And Melissa I hope the husband keeps up the good attitude and isnt just being like this for the camera. I know it took alot of him to admit that he is part of the casue her of her gaining weight. I hope they continue to improve on their marriage.

And Im very intersted in the show next week. The previes said something about someone who had the surgery and them putting the weight back on. I only caught the end of the preview but it looks for good for next weeks show.

I love this show and was very happy to see that it had a second season. There is so much a person can learn by watching it, exercise, diet, etc., etc.

I have to agree with this weeks show, I say congrats to Kim and I think that things will work out for Melissa and her husband. But Rose, that's a different story. I really feel for her, she needs the surgery, but I don't think it will be a big success for her if she doesn't change. She seems to think that putting on the water works will make people feel sorry for her. Sure, she came clean with the shopping stuff, but okay, now what are you going to do. It was also said that she was trading the food addiction for shopping, I don't think so, not if she gained 30-40 pounds or more.

Can't wait for next weeks show.

I love this show. I told my doctor bout it and he said he trained with the Davis'. Wow! Small world.

I think Melissa will turn out ok, with or without her hubby. She has a renewed sense of self esteem so she will be fine. Kim looks great! These doctors really do care about their patients.

Rose, however, needs some serious work up before any surgery is done. She needs therapy to get her self esteem up, find the underlying issues and then once that is on the road, get the surgery. I agree she should have to return all the stuff she bought and take the money (well over 2k) and pay for the surgery herself. She got a blessing from the doctors and now it is like she is throwing it in their faces.

I too am intrigued by next weeks show. I have heard you can gain your weight back, but I am still curious as to how and why.

I am also wondering how Allen is doing. Last week, they removed his breasts and I hope they update us soon. What an inspiration he is! What about Marc Bracken too?

Anyway, I hope they give us more updates on former patients to help all of us out here feel a pride of accomplishment for others.

you funny people should mention gaining it back. have you seen al roker and "randy" from american idol lately??? um...they look the same as their befores. THAT makes me nervous....i also saw something on carnie wilson on ET where she is admitting to having gained weight and being a food addict....oh boy!

I've got a soft spot for Rose but I'm glad that the docs have decided that they won't do her bypass - at least that's what I believe they said.

I know that some folk develop issues with drugs, alcohol, smoking, shopping etc. after surgery, but Rose has started her shopping obsession beforehand. And it's not as if she can use the excuse that she's on a diet.

In knowing that the funding for her surgery was coming from donations, you'd have thought she would have made an effort to start losing weight in readiness for WLS. But didn't they say she'd put on a considerable amount of weight since they first saw her?

I don't believe that at the moment, Rose is capable of commiting herself to the regime and restrictions that WLS imposes on us. She has some major issues that need addressing first.

I'm not sure how she's going to feel watching the programme last night though. I can only think that it's likely to push her further into depression.
