Howdy all - don't know if anyone elso out there experiences this or not, so i though I'd ask 'cause chances are someone out there has....

Tylenol, advil, motrin, etc, really UPSET my stomach. It just BURNS. It always has since surgery. I have this horrible sinus cold and no matter what I take for it, it burns my stomach.
Any suggestions on what to take that won't burn my stomach?

I can't say it enough - i am so grateful for all of you out there! The few week I have been in this site have made a HUGE difference in my life, not just food wise, but haveing a place to go to and people to share with that are genuine is great.:blo wkiss:

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Have you tried to talk to a pharmasist? Or your surgeon. They may be able to help you. Or something for children. It may not be as harsh. Good luck in your search.

I have not had surg yet but I have been told by those here and my dr that advil and motrin are no nos after surgery. Tylenol is ok but that other stuff is supposed to give you ulcers . There is a list here on the site of what you can and cannot take after surgery if you didn't get one from your surgeon?

I have been taking liquid tylenol without any problems, I was told by my surgeron that I can't take any kind of NSAIDS cuz it can cause ulcers so I stay away from that stuff. I stick to the liquid tylenol stuff for my cold sickness.

Here's the link to the list of meds you should avoid post op.
http://www.renewedreflections.com/fo...e-post-op.html
Of course, if your surgeon prescribes something on the list, or gives you the go ahead, that's fine, as the surgeon knows, and still feels that it's necessary. In these cases, though, you will be told to take them only for the short term.

Tylenol should be okay, but there are people who don't do well with that, either.
Ask your surgeon for what meds he recommends in such cases.

I MISS ADVIL SOOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH....My nut told me I could take ONE ALEVE.....OCCASIONALLY.....tylenol has NO effect on me whatsover, but it's all we're really allowed to take....

I had read some place the reaso they didn't want us to take advil was mostly because they didn't want it sitting on the stomach lining.....what about all those liquid gels they are coming out with now...aren't those fast dissolve enough DOC to avoid PART of the problem?

being a post oper that did
develop a bleeding ulcer
at 1 year out i do not opt
to use advil motrin aleve type
products....
i never m essed with them
so not sure why the ulcer nor
did my surgeon.

I use tylenol products
in all forms rapid release, PM,
8 hour.

I just had a minor surgery this past
week and being i couldnt take
motrin i was prescribed pain med
to get me thru. Was fine.

I would be sure to not nin the neglect
any burning in the pouch..perhaps
you need an OTC antiacid med...
talk to ur surgeon!

good luck
