Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Caution...ranting and self pity ahead!!!!!!!!!![]() Well ladies, I don't know how better to say it. I have the blues. Depression has set in.To top that off, I feel stupid about being depressed because isn't this supposed to be a great thing..losing all this weight? I thought so at first. I have had a rough couple of months since surgery. I feel like I'm in prison. I am afraid to go the drug route because my body was sensitive to medications even before surgery. I just feel like everyday is the same..wake up..water..breakfast...vitamins..water..protein drink..water..lunch..water..workout...water..dinne r..vitamins..water...bed. Still no energy, and no real food variety..I eat tuna everyday to get all the protein. I meet the nutrition goals but there are only like 10 foods I alternate around with. My tummy doesn't like veggies no matter what I try, and chicken/fish aren't faring well..so its eggs, oatmeal, yogurt, tuna, turkey, beans..repeat. Somedays I feel icky and can't get much in. Some nights there is the tossing and turning. I am making dark circles a fashion statement!! I go out walking everyday for 30 mins or so and do some light weight lifting and try to go on one errand a day. I force one foot in front of the other. But I'm tired and now depressed. I don't even want to go out in public lately because I feel like I am totally losing touch with reality. I went to see my therapist but even that feels like too much effort... I know I sound like a nag..I know this isn't an easy process for anyone...but even as a woman suffering with obesity and all the related problems..I had a life and some energy...not that I want that 50 pounds back or anything!! I see everyone living and happy and eating around me and I get soooo mad!!! Tell me I'm silly or that you know what I'm going thru..I just want to know that its normal, because after 7 and a half weeks, I thought there would finally be some spring in my step... ![]() |

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Oh Honey you sound totaly normal from someone only a a month out, I wasnt able to eat veggies til 4 months out. For me the 1st 2 months were very hard, as a matter of fact if it wasnt for the weightloss I'd say they sucked for me. I was still sore and eating wasvery limited. I drank alot of protein shakes to get my protein in and stuck to the same foods, may I suggest going to the recipe section and check out some for newer people, I think Debra posted one I used alot, it was shrimp blended in the food processor with spices and a tablespoon of lite mayo. It was yummy and I ate it alot. Honey dont worry about feeling blue, it comes with the territory |

| Super Moderator | Awww ((((((HUGS))))))) It's part of the mind trip you have to adjust to with this journey. Do try to get in to see your therapist, even if it take some effort. Also, maybe TOM (that time in the month) is coming around, and PMS is making things worse? Just a thought here. Hang in there, and take things one day at a time.

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Dehydration can add to it all so make absolutely sure you are getting the WATER in that you are supposed. with what you're describing it just sounds like that 'normal' point we all get where it's crazy making. Plus like doc said PMS...wow it can be brutal with all the hormone rushes post op with the fat releasing so much! hang in there...it does get better and more manageable.. Therapy..make that part of your 'new routine' it will pay off in the end!!

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | At my psych eval he told me that he wanted me to stay on my wellbutrin post-op because there is a risk of depression after surgery and this will help keep me from having an increased risk. I know it may not make you feel any better, but it seems like a lot of people go through it and I might be there very shortly. Just hang in there and keep doing what you're doing. You sound like you're getting it (the routine) even if it may be very boring. And it's obviously working since you've lost so much already.

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Just reading this post, but I hope you are feeling better. We have all experienced this. It will get better. I think I speak for a lot of us here that the mind stuff was not what I expected - the food I was prepared for, but not the mind. But, it does get better.

Weight Loss Method Physician Prescribed Diet/Exercise | Jess; I don't think you're bein a nag. I think you're being depressed. If you have the same symptoms in excess of 2 weeks, or have any thoughts of harming yourself (or anyone else), it's time to see your Doc. I don't know how familiar you therapist is with meds, and whether she or he would be able to make recommendations if you ought to "think about it" at this time. Therapists are often not trained in psychiatric meds at all and sometimes go on their own personal biases. Try to get an educated, objective opinion! Falling into a depression shortly after having a surgery is fairly common. Just because it's common--that doesn't mean ignore it. Take gooooooooood care of you lady! XOXO Mya |

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Hang in there it will get better, and by all means keep venting that works wonders. Mind thing is the hardest with this, I am as well continuing with my Prozac after surgery only now it is in a liquid form, I think if sometimes if it wasn't for this site I would have not been able to get this far. |
