Question Major setback!!!

Hi all. Well it's about 8:15 am and I ahve just gotten off the scale. I can not believe my eyes!!!! I have GAINED 5 lbs in literally 2 days. I can not believe this. Yesterday I went with my family to Old Country Buffet and I sat and drank my Medifast shake when everyone else was eating food I have been following this liquid diet for the past week like it was golden except for the day when I wrote that I had a turkey sandwich and some soup. I spoke with my primary physician just this past Friday and told her that I had only lost 3lbs in the past week and a half and she told me to remember my weightloss history (STRUGGLING for 5yrs+) and that 3 lbs for me was good and to be happy that I lost those 3lbs. Well with this weight gain of 5lbs in 2 days I am HEAVIER than when I walked into the Dr.'s office to start. When I started Medifast I was 319 then went down to 316 and NOW I am 321lbs. This seems completely unfair to me and it has made me rethink this whole liquid diet and everything else. If I am having this much difficulty before surgery what's going to happen after? Doc said to Increase my water intake but if I drink anymore than I do now I'll become my own water park Sorry to vent and be negative here but it seems like history is repeating itself and slapping me in the face. I feel like I'm at a complete loss The only thing that I can think of is that my mother has ciliac sprue disease which affects the intestines when gluten is ingested and maybe I am getting so much diarrhea and gas and having difficulty losing any weight. I have spoken with my primary and she says she doesn't think I have ciliac sprue disease. Sorry for all the rambling....
Esha

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

When's your next TOM--that time of month due? You retain a lot of water preceding TOM--PMSing, that will whoosh away once TOM starts. If your are close to your next cycle, then it's possible that the gain is from that.

Oh, Esha, I'm so sorry
I don't even know what to say. I didn't know that was possible having only 450 cals a day. You did GREAT (even thought it was awful) not eating with everyone - I did the same thing at Friendly's early into this, but this just has me baffled. If I were you I would be on the phone to Dr. Ingrams office at 8:30am tomorrow when they open because this is ridiculous! If you suffer with medifast, you should at least be seeing results, but if you aren't - I'd be PI--ED BIG TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Please don't give up. Just do what you should today and call first thing tomorrow. Please stay strong - call Amina, keep busy, go on-line, go shopping - anything to keep your mind off of this and from getting even more upset.
We're here for you. Use us!

I just got done with TOM about 2 days ago. Last week when I went to the second weigh in I had TOM so the nurse attributed to lack of weightloss to that. This time TOM is not the culprit

So sorry to hear that happened to you. Hang in there, it will disappear. You body is adjusting to the restricted calories and holding on to stuff. It will level out.

With all the diarrhea, your electrolyte (salts) count could be off, which can be a cause of retaining water. Have another talk with your PCP.
Hang in there, as everyone says, don't give up.

it's funny with this journey....you just have to keep working the plan and have faith it will give the paybacks it's designed to do....I know it must be hard, but don't give up...there are so many variables that impact our weight (weather, time of the month etc)....I feel like I have to lose the same 3 pounds 12 times sometimes....it will get easier post-op and you have the tool to help you stick to the plan (but it sucks when you are making sacrifices and still don't see progress....BELIEVE me...I KNOW!!!)
