(((((HUGS))))) The first step is recognizing the problem. As a matter of fact, half the job is done with this step. Don't try to ride it out on your own, look for various groups and also ask your dr's help. You need to be in the best mental state for Will, so hang in there, ((((((HUGS))))))

try to remember what you've accomplished. if you can take the step to have wls you can certainly take control of this new habit. most of us have never lived in the real world attention is something we never wanted to attract and i can see how cutting loose now that the weight is off feels pretty good but, this problem can easily be more dangerous than obesity. you have said the magic words "i need help" now reach out and grab it! cangelski |

I hurt my back a few weeks ago when I was in a wreck and now it hurts so bad sometimes I just cant stand it, lastnight I not only took a pain pill I had drank a glass of wine on top of it all. I dont even remember typing that out last night, how sad is that? I dont drink everyday nor do I take the pain meds everyday but I do see myself going down a destructive path and so need to stop it now. Thank GOD I see my therapist on friday. How embarressing that I dont even remember posting that

Awww ((((((HUGS)))))) Good for you that you recognize and are ready to tackle these issues quickly and head on. I'm sure you'll be able to do fine, even if it may take some work and time. For your back pain, physical therapy might be of help, and maybe, if you're not scared of needles, then acupuncture might work, too, rather than depend on meds.

Transfer addiction is a real problem with gastric bypass patients, it is real and you are not the only one. I saw a post on the yahoo site where someone admitted they started drinking after GB and a hundred or so other people replied with the same admission. This is a real problem that others need to help you with, don't wait any longer, find a treatment program that works for you, get help and support. When food is used as your addiction for years and you find a new pleasure that brings back that same old euphoric feeling, transfering your old addiction to the new one is a very real possibility. I think the medical community needs to address this more openly with GB patients and to make family members aware of these possibilities, it can happen with alcohol, pills, sex, or anything. please seek help, you will be amazed at how many other people suffer from this after GB. I believe there was an Oprah show on this as well, Carney Wilson suffered from it with alcohol. Tami
