Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Okay so I saw the psychologist today...He was nice and spoke alot about other WLS patients (who remained nameless) through my program. He said that bc I had a major depressive episode in the past, it made it somewhat more likely for it to occur again, esp because I have just put my body through something "traumatic" that is a big life changer. He says I need to sit back and give myself time to adjust, and he is not certain that we should move directly to medication, but he will continue to assess it. So Im going to start seeing him twice a week and then move to once. I really think that all this has just been so stressful for me. When I get too deep in a funk, which has only happened once before in my life, I start sensationalizing everything. I ask myself questions..whats wrong with me..why cant i go out..why cant i feel normal...why arent i myself..will it go away? Then anxiety adds to the depression. So I know that this can happen to me. I also know that in my life, when things are "normal" I am the calmest and most rational person I know! So its funny...but what can I do. I'm going through it..and the only way to go is forward..so one foot in front of the other until my mind catches up with the changes my body has gone through..like Doc said..my brain caught a cold..colds get better, sometimes with medicine, sometimes with alot of support, tissues, and vitamin C. That being said, thanks to all who had soothing words and stated they understood what I'm going through.Trust me, the second I wake up to my new life and feel more alive and embrace it, this is the first place Iam coming to say yaayyy I got through it and I love my new body! |

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Oh and I forgot to say the new Doc has been working closely with the same Psychiatrist for 25 years and says she is very good and very familiar with WLS. So, if that is where the path leads me, that I feel Iwill be in good hands.. |

| Super Moderator | Good to know that you've got a really good psych to work with you. If you can get through without medication, that's good, because along the way, you'll be able to develop coping mechanisms that will step into place for you before getting meds into the act. ((((((HUGS))))))
