Ok, went for my first post-op with my gorgeous doc and he explained everything to me. The sheet that they give everybody is from the older doc who retired and were his beliefs and mostly for 'open' pts. I don't know why they don't rewrite it because his ideas are much different than even the other two docs left in the office. He even said that almost every doc who does these differs - and we can ALL vouch for that!!

So his changes:
1. No it's not 3 hours of no drinking after you eat, it's at least 1 hour. His comment : when would you have time to drink? THANK YOU - that was my question!

2. No I don't have to take bile salts (for the other 2 docs you do), but he had a few reasons which sounded good to me. He said if an issue comes up with my gallbladder, we'll deal with it then.
3. I have been allowed to have full liquids for days now!!! (ok, I'll admit, I started onday in tiny amounts and did fine - now I don't feel guilty!)

4. My sheet has no full liquid stage and says purees for 4 weeks. My doc told me to do full liquids a few days (already did!), puree for a few more and start solid food next week. I will do this in extreme moderation with extreme caution and common sense, but BOY is this different than that sheet!
I'm so glad I went with my little list of questions. And I told him all about you guys and he said especially since I live so far from their office (1 hour away), he says it's excellent to have such support!! Thank you ladies!!!!
