Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | I find that I am not sure what to do next. I am at about the level I want to be at at the end of this adventure but not sure what to do next or how to do it. I am increasing my food somewhat and am currently maintaining my weight. I'm still exercising (walking, running) etc. but part of me feels like I need to keep losing some more just to be sure I don't bounce back bigger that my current wt. I was reading about a lady who had lost weight and really liked how it felt to the point that she developed anorexia and it's sorta bothering me coz I can kinda identify with her thought process, although I can't see me anorexic - I genuinely love to eat too much! - still I've lost this much and am not sure about losing more. My doc def thinks it's time to call it to a halt - she doesnt want me this small, really, but says absolutely no less than 145. Am I the only one having these thoughts? |

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | I am also curious how much of my wt now is excess skin. Dont really intend to do the PS thing but I am curious about the wt of the skin. I realized how much is on my legs this weekend at the beach, when I'm in the water it's , well, a lot! |

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | I have picked up on the calories a bit, and I seem to be maintaining within a couple of pounds...have done so for about a month now. I am planning on plastics, so I know I need to keep at this level on the nose, as I will lose a bit more when the skin is removed. I know when I'm in the water, my excess skin floats LOL.....it's kinda gross and unreal looking....! |

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | I know exactly what you mean with the anorexia thing....I actually made a joke to my mom (who has had RNY...do I need to keep saying that when I refer to her or does everyone know?) that this would be an anorexics dream. That I could see how people could get really carried away with losing because the hunger is not very strong and the results of losing are so rewarding. What I think of though is...I do not find myself attractive as an overweight person and I have never seen an anorexic that I thought was what I wanted to look like either. I want to look healthy! Thats all I want is to be happy and healthy.

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | ok...after being 6 yrs out I'm gonna try hard to give you some perspective.. it just doesn't work that way...decide okay..not gonna lose more, THIS is where I wanna stay. You keep working out and KEEP LIVING THE LIFE you can live with. That means this: can you live a life for the next 10-15 yrs that includes the LEVEL of exercise you are doing NOW..continue on this way... your body will decide the place it ends up. Often..far too many times we get gung ho, get going on a very very active life, then people start influencing with commenting on how 'tiny' you are, etc..aren't you gonna STOP losing now? .. Your body decides...you WILL go to a low and then go UP again..the only ones I've met that don't go back up much at all are the ones who keep very active lifestyles OR have had extensive *(emphasis on the extensive here) plastic surgery done to remove excess fat, skin, etc..tightened up beyond belief. I get so concerned when I see women who start getting all freaked by being so 'small'..and starting to want to re-gain... you WILL whether you want to or not when you body adjusts at about the 2 yr 2.5 yrs mark. It's a natural process. Your hair will slowly begin to grow like it did before surgery, nails, etc. For me this wasn't until about the 4yr mark because I had such a very high exercise level but yes, it doesn't help that I also have the overlarge stoma opening issue. Still got that 1 oz pouch though. Get comfortable where you are with the body you HAVE now...love it, learn to work with it, enjoy what you can do NOW that you never could do before being so obese!! Embrace the new you and accept it..got to therapy again if that's what you need to accept the new you. Frankly we often start to want to regain some in an attempt to make those around us more comfortable, those who are most close to us often become very uncomfortable with the new thin 'us'

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Bree, Thank you for being real. I am still in the preop stage and the thing I like about online support groups, there are real people who will tell you that everyone will struggle in some ways and we still move on. I don't want candy-coated stories because we all know it doesn't always work that way.
