| Super Moderator | Hi folks, christyblue's busy moving her Mom, and hasn't been able to post the poll for the last couple of days, so I'm standing in for her today. Fall is in full swing now, and fall is the season for lotsa sports. World Series going on now, as is the Japanese baseball championship here. Football is already in full swing, and I see through your posts that many of you have kids on the team, or cheerleading. Basketball will be starting off soon, too, as will ice hockey. So, what is your fav sports? And, do you play it, or just spectator? Or, do you want to pick 'em up, once you are at your goal, and able to pursue whatever to your heart's content? Or do you have any particular memories to share? Mine is tennis, I play it, well, not much games, just lessons so far, as I don't have much time, and though I follow the Grand Slams, I don't watch the matches much on TV real time, as that would put me in an awful time and sleep-lost crunch in most cases. I have been to the Japan Open games a number of times, and even once won a pair ticket to courtside seats, which was great fun watching. That particular occasion hold wonderful memories for me, as I went to that particular game with my late father, since he was also a tennis buff, and a great player with almost 70 years experience. After his death, I was unexpectedly told by a number of people that he had talked of the occasion to them, and how he had enjoyed the day. This was a great surprise and pleasure for me, and a booster to my spirits. These days, every time I'm playing tennis, I find myself thinking, "OK, Dad, if only some of your expertise had rubbed off on me. Who's next?

Height: | I would have to agree about the whole High School football thing. I miss going to games on a Friday night when I was in high school. I mostly observe sports, but love to watch football on occasion and maybe even a little bit of soccer when Italy is playing. janae |

| WLS Mentor | Well, when i was going to high school the school that i went to didn't have football, but my cousins all played in their school football teams, boys and girls. My game was/is/and will again be volleyball. Oh yeah, and waterskiing in the summer at the cottage. I also liked being a cheerleader and being on the school cross country team. May try cross country running when i get to that point again, i used to love it. (Ok, i wasn't actually ever in competition but as the co-manager often ran with our team during practices.).And i love my gymnastics too., does that count as a sport? floor gymnastics, tap dancing, jazz dancing, and baton. I've also always been into the special olympics ever since i was about 18. I helped with training certain individuals in my area for floor hockey, and running. What i love most about the special olympics is the spirit of friendship that exuds from all of it's participants. Here's a little something that i heard or read somewhere once about a distance run in the special olympics. The run had started and the participants had made it about halfway to the finish line, they were pretty even and it was going to be a close race, their were about 6 people running. One of them fell, realizing this one of the other 5 runner stopped and then the others stopped and looked back. The person who fell had slightly hurt their ankle, just a little twist, but this person realized that he wouldn't be able to finish the race. The other 5 spontaniously walked back to where there companion had fallen and helping him up they all walked with him to the finish line. They made it a tie. It was more important for them that every body finish the race with the same chance of winning as the others than it was that one of them win. Oh, ok probably not technically a sport but i used to love to throw the football and baseball around in front of our house when i was growing up. My brothers taught me the proper way to throw so i was very proud whenever it was noticed that i didn't "throw like a girl"

| WLS Mentor | ok, i just want to add to this a little, i told you about the sports i like to play.... just wanted to say i hate watching sports (except for one) on tv. I will gladly go to a football or baseball or hockey game and get into it and have fun but i find these sports on tv are very boring. The only sport i love to watch on tv is WWE. Wrestling. Can i just say, big muscles, long hair(not as many now but stil some) and those tight pants or shorts or body suites that they wear.....yummy
