well, when i lived with my folks we usually did it the weekend of/or after my birthday(when I was a kid) (my birthday is Dec. 07) but now i usually start around the 1st of Dec. When i was a kid we used to decorate the whole house on the one day, but now on my own, i like to do a little at a time, add stuff slowly up to about a week before. The tree usually gets done around the 15th of Dec. Doing it this way i find i don't get as bored with the decorations, and it's fun to decide what i'm gonna do for decorating through that time. We've always done big time decorating and it's so much fun, gets the family together, i still help my mom and dad do their decorations, the tree, table center pieces, windows, and every year we come up with a new home made decoration. Last year we made a snowman out of big white plastic bags, newspaper stuffing and big wooden eyes, nose and buttons that my dad cut out for us. I wonder what we will make this year.

I used to want to decorate the day after Halloween, but now that I am in a cramped apartment, I don't like having the tree up long at all. Last year it was such a hassle to convince hubby to have one at all. I do have a few nice pieces to decorate with that I look forward to using again this year though. My fave is a Christmas Countdown that I got from Home and Garden Party last year. It is wooden and is a chimney with a Santa figure that falls down the chimney a little more each day as you remove the number of slat for that day. Then on Christmas Eve when the kids are in bed you remove the last one and he is in the fireplace. It is so cute. I got a great deal on them for being a hostess of a party so I got one for my parents and both sets of my hubby's parents last year for Christmas. This year I have no idea what to get anyone. Oh well let the games begin.

| I usually decorate around the first of December, but since my son is not little anymore, its not as fun, so I really don't feel much like doing it at all. this year I might get to see my mom at Christmas though, so I am thankful for that. I would feel a lot better about things in life, I think, if I could get this weight off, but right now I cannot find anywhere that takes my insurance, so I cannot get GBS like I want. |
