How funny!! I did the same thing when I did WW years ago. I always wore the same clothes even down to my underwear and socks!! I went to the bathroom as soon as I got there just to make sure I didnt weight any extra pee. Took off the jewelry and glasses, if I was chewing gum, spit it out!!! Brought back some silly memories, thanks!

Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

These posts have inspired me, so thank you for the humor and the weigh in information. I weigh every day at home, but once a week with my trainer at the gym. I recently hit a plateau and didn't want to weigh with the trainer. However, he gave me good advice to get over my plateau and the next week. Boom, 4 lbs. So, when I read Corine's post of sometimes slower sometimes faster, it made me feel so much better! The nurse in the Dr.'s office said I should lose 8-10 lbs a week. I've never done that and thought something was wrong with me.

Thanks again for the encouragement!

So, Penlight, what was the advice to get over your plateau and what did the nurse in the doctor's office say to do to lose 8-10 pounds a week? Please share with us!!!

Default Plateau advice

My trainer told me to increase my calories. He said I wasn't getting enough fuel. I did increase them and continued my work outs and the next week I dropped 4 lbs.

It's been my experience to drop about 3-4 a week until the plateau when I had gone 2 weeks without losing a pound. I'm only 8 weeks out of surgery so I thought I should just lose constantly.

The nurse at the doctors office should never have said to expect 10 lbs a week. I haven't met anyone yet who lost that much weight. The most I've encountered has been about 5 or 6. Have you?

No way, I have never lost or met anyone that lost 10 pounds a week. Do you mind my asking how many calories you get in in a day and exactly what you're eating. I've got to do something to change my rate of weight loss. I have slowed WAAAAAYYYYYY down. Thanks for any help.

My Doc told me to get between 700 and 900 calories a day. I keep a food diary, if I bite it, I write it. I was getting around 600-700 a day until the plateau. Now, I'm eating closer to 900.

I have a protein bar for breakfast. I like the Special K bars, that's 180 calories. Sometimes I have chocolate milk (but I'm a whole milk drinker, not that skim milk stuff). For lunch I will usually have chicken salad and crackers, a chicken enchilada with cheese sauce, or soup (something like that). For dinner I have one of those little dinty moore meals, usually 180-200 calories. I have two sugar free popsicles just about every night for something sweet.

I am by myself most of the time, so I don't have family influencing me. My husband travels a bunch. I also don't tolerate bread well. I used to LOVE bread, but I don't eat it anymore.

My trainer and nutritionist both were very encouraging telling me how a plateau is a time to switch things up. So, I went from the treadmill to the elliptical, and added 10 minutes of cardio. I slowed down on the weights for a bit. I also walk the dog every afternoon. I wasn't very good at taking my vitamins and I got the "finger-wagging, talkin' to" for that.

Thanks you guys, you have been very encouraging to me. I thought maybe I was crazy for not losing 10 lbs in a week.
