Hello everyone. I am lost as to how to start a new thread or subject, so I am writing it here... I wondered if everyone has plateaud at some point? I am seven months post op, and have lost 100 lbs., But the last two months I just can't seem to lose. I increased my exercise, joining a gym, and going 3-5 times a week for 1 1/2 hours at a time. I do the treadmill, stretches, light weights for toning, and about 5 minutes on the bike. I feel great (other than my regular aches and pains). The dietician and dr. have said it is normal until my body adjusts to the weight that has been lost but I feel like I am failing. I told my husband maybe I should go back to the diet that I had when I first got home from the hospital ( liquids and then pureeds)... Any input or experiences that anyone could tell me would help so much. Thanks.

Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Hi SheliaMae, I am splitting your post and giving you a new thread.
To start a new thread, open the index page of the appropriate forum, and click the "New Thread" button on the upper left hand corner, in the place the "Post reply" button is with existing threads. The posting box will appear, and post as you would any other posts. (Check this post out.)

About the stall, what your dr and dietitian are telling you is the truth, you know. Your body is trying to adjust to the sudden weightloss, and trying to figure out if this a good thing for your health. Once it's finished adjusting, the scales will start moving again.

Even if your scale is not moving, what about your inches? Isn't your clothes becoming looser? When your weight is not moving in scale numbers, your size is coming down. To kick up your weightloss, you may actually have to increase your intake a bit, not decrease. If you decrease, your body is going to try to hang on to every single calorie that you're getting in, thinking that you are in danger of starving. Rather than going back to your immediate post op diet, reasses your eating, and check if you are eating the right kinds of food in the right amount.
Don't panic, there is no way you are not going to lose any more, you will so long as you work to establish a healthy and balanced eating pattern.

((((((HUGS))))))

Hi SheliaMae, I'm not as far out as you but haveplateaud twice at this point. The first one lasting only a few weeks and this one I'm not sure how long it will last but I hope it doesn't last long. I've been hovering at the 199.5 to 200.00 mark for sometime. I know its because I had a stricture for awhile and unable to eat and now I can eat a little again and it has to adjust all over again.
Hang in there you will begin to lose again.

Red face SheilaMae...

I'm sooo glad you posted.
I'm at 6.5mos Post op...and have been all over the scale. (up and down....I'm currently up 2# from my lowest...I refuse to put it on my ticker...so I'm truly only 107# down! LOL. Kinda freaks me out to be UP!!) I too have lost a little over 100# and wonder "what if"....I don't loose anymore....I still have 75# to go!!

I'm thankful to you....and thanks Doc for the great advice. I do need to take some measurments to see if I can see the difference in my inches!
Great suggestion.

Hang in there SM!!!
Glad you are with us...and posting your concerns!!!

this is a time when i takeing ur measurements help tons.
WHEN your not looseing and floating around those same
pounds up and down the INCHEs are melting off! YOU know
the ones we visually see!
GO out get a tape measure and watch the inches come off in these
times of no scale movement!

THIS is a time and phase when clothes sizes change!
SO get measuring and journal those measurements and
you will see what im talking about
good luck
be strong and if your following ur pouch
rules all will pick up again shortly!

Default Mornin Shelia!

Well, I guess I am in the same boat these days. DON'T GET DISCOURAGED THOUGH. I am three months out and have hit a plateau already. I WILL NOT LET THAT STAND IN MY WAY THOUGH. I CONTINUE TO EXERCISE LIKE I ALWAYS HAVE AND EAT LIKE I HAVE BEEN. DOC is right shelia, your clothes must be fitting looser. When I am not losing weight, I can tell the inches are decreasing. I LOST BIG TIME IN THE FIRST TWO MONTHS, BUT the last month it is coming off alot slower.
My advice to you would be try what i try. Get a snugger pair of pants, shirt, whatever and keep trying it on during your plateau time. NOT DAILY, BUT EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE. You should notice a change during this time in the way that it fits you. YAH, WITH ME TO THE SCALE THING IS BETTER TO SEE, BUT IF YOU ARE DOING GREAT, WHICH I KNOW YOU ARE, YOU WILL FEEL THE RESULTS OF INCHES COMING OFF. It does help me out when the scale doesn't move.

Thanks, Bren,
I will cheer you on and you (please) cheer me on. Let's pray these plateaus disappear soon! Just think, you are stuck at 199...on the other hand I am stuck at 279. Wish I was where you are at!

Thank you Lisa. I will get out that tape measure and I just bought a pretty notebook that I can journal in. I'll ad the inches to my food diary notes. How often should I measure? Weekly?

Well, I guess then it is time to get out some of my jeans that haven't seen the light of day in quite a while!! This sounds strange, but my shoe size is back to what it was in high school. I was wearing a size 10 shoe before surgery and now in most shoes can do an 8 1/2 ! I think my feet were so swollen and wide before--now I have skinny feet! (ya ya ya, I'm grasping at straws to find 'skinny' body parts) LOL I did go horseback riding today though. Been quite a while since I had. We went out on marked state horse trails and it was beautiful! Every little 'present' from God, the doctors, and myself just makes me so thankful that I did this surgery!
