Default What do you do for exercise?

Okay its official I joined a gym. I waited till the new year to do it but got a good deal. Now Im walking daily (or 5 times a week) and doing crunchs. Im very very nervous that I will stop losing and will get fusterated. So What do you all do for exercise. How long do you do it? If its walking How fast and any incline? I dont want to stop losing and I know its almost imposible still, but I really want to maximize my results.

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

I just joined a new gym last night too! The gym I was going to was more like a "guys gym". We are having a new gym opening hopefully this week so I went and joined! I am so excited about all the classes they have to offer, aerobics, spinning, etc... I just can't wait. I really need something with some structure and someone I have to be accountable to so that everyone else doesn't come first and I get that exercise in!

Red face Funny....

It must be all the ads on TV...and the new year etc.....
I'm considering talking to my hubby about joining 'CURVES'...a few years ago I had a membership at curves...and loved it....and saw there is one down the street from where I live.....so, thought, Hmmmm? maybe this would be a good thing for me.

There is also a YMCA 2 doors down from that...so I'm thinking of seeing if they have childcare...and maybe considering going there depending on the cost of each.
Also...I've started a "Mommy & Me Tap Class" with 'Bella....and bought a FIRM Workout Set for a "home workout"

We'll see which will work out...but I need to get more exercise than just walking around the city a few times a week.

We do have the advantage of being able to walk around the city Deb, so even the days we dont do an official exercise we get alot of walking in. That has helped me alot. I know if i live out on Long Island i would be driving so much ....love that i walk to most places i need to go now. I also have a treadmill in my home and an ab lounger, BOTH OF WHICH I WILL BE USING AGAIN really soon. Once i am feeling better i will be getting back into a routine. I also have an old membership to Ballys that expired. THey will let me renew it for something like 99 dollars for the year which isnt bad. I may look into that as well. And of course there is the all day every day chasing after 4 Kiddies.....lol........Anyway keep up the good work everyone.

I been useing my gazelle this year ......

LAST year i did the ladies express gym (very much like a curves), it just doesnt fit into my lifestyle right now....so i dont want to throw away money........hard with the kids and their hectic schedules and my work
to get to the gym........but when i went i loved it. FELT good, i had to workout friends too so we motivated each other to keep going.

I also walked the first 3 months post op as thats all my surgeon wants people to do till much healing is done.

Default Mornin Jlr!

Well, JLR, I will tell you what I do. It isn't an elaborate schedule. lol I walk my four miles daily, and am currently going to my sister-in-laws house 3 days per week to weightlift. Now that I am pretty much done losing my weight, I NEED TO MAJORLY TONE UP. Especially, my upper half. The walking gives me enough toning in my legs, butt, and upper thighs, I think. My calves look like big ol' turkey drumsticks. Now, my belly, on the other hand. LOL I know I will never be able to see the six pack underneath, due to the extra skin, but I know it's under there somewhere. LOL I keep it simple these days, but am happy with what I do. Someone else might choose other things to do, which is great. Where I live, their are not gyms to go to. HONEST! So, I use what I have, and am very content with it. GOOD LUCK!

Hi everyone and if I didn't say Happy New Year's, Happy New Year's to you all. When looking for a gym you probably want or need a gym that makes you feel comfortable. You don't want to feel like your entering a "sweat shop". Walking is good and if one can swim if available that's even better. Make sure and get in some weight training b/c it helps tone the body. Order of lifting weights is (biggest to smallest muscles - legs, chest, upper back, shoulders, arms, wrists, lower back and stomach). Start of this yr doing cardio for a week or two then slowly work in some wt training every other day. Results always vary but please stick with it. If you are more specific tips with routines or personalize exercise programs after you get a doc's medical clearance please let me know. I'm definitely willing to help, take care and God Bless you all . Kyle (Nationally Certified Personal Trainer) NCPT.

Question Thanks Kyle...

I was really blowing off asking hubby abour joining CURVES....

But now I'm rethinking it....
We really don't have the $$....but, I'm thinking I'm about 60#'s from goal...and I really need to work on the toning of my bod.
I'm "jiggly"....and last time at this weight....I was doing jazzercise...and hand weights...and was pretty toned in my arms and legs.

Of course some of the jiggle can be the flabby skin...and I know that....but, do you think a place like Curves which does resistance training could be helpful??

Sure why NOT Curves , you have start somewhere and be most importantly comfortable with the place. It will be you that is working out. Resistance training does a good amount of toning but my friend you have to make sure you get in the time for it and be consistent. Any form of exercise is important to anyone. It just varies from person to person. Feel free to mix up your exercise routine b/c exercise can be boring too. I have been personally training individuals for 8 years and variety in workouts keep the person's interest. So give it a try at Curves with the resistance training then start mixing in some cardio, going out dancing with your hubby, gardening when the weather breaks for spring and some weight training. I hope this helps and feel free to ask for specific programs. I'll be glad to help you and your hubby out for couples training also. God Bless, take care and I'm proud of YOU !!!
