Unhappy Excess skin Vs. workout, so depressing

Well, I know this issue has been discussed many times and I know it's one of the side effects of losing weight quickly and all of this has been predicted and expected.

But I sat a plan for the coming few months before I'm due my one year anniversary with strict food program and daily workout not less than 40 min's and the so depressing side of it is that my skin HURTS when I workout because when I jump my skin jumps up and down with the gravity and Gosh it hurts! and here I'm not talking about breast because I'm wearing sport bra's and they are concrete hard so that area is alright and protected. What hurts is the skin from the hips and thighs area. the pains just put me off the exercise mode! it's now for the 4th day successively I start with a great spirit and gave up after 25 minutes of the workout when the actual work starts

Hey senior post-op's any suggestions? I desperately want to lose these 80lbs before I finish my one year!

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Have you thought of swim suits?
The two piece ones with the bottom, the shorts part thigh length?
I am thinking that they might work as gridles, they are made for swimming, so exercising in them should be comfortable, and movement easy, and the holding power pretty good, especially with the support type ones.
There are also sports support shorts, the tight fitting type, which you could use. If you don't want people to see you in them since they are tight fitting, you can wear loose shorts and pants over them, and nobody will be any wiser.

Kyle, I will be having my WLS 3/27/07. I am sooo out of shape and totally sedentary. What should I be doing right now to get ready for surgery? I work very long hours (6 am -6 pm) and amexhausted when I get home and it is dark out. But I know I need to do something to help with the healing process. What can I do in 5 weeks?

I don't know what type of work you do, but my dietician had me buy a pedometer ~$10 and wear it all day. Every time you think about it, get up and walk around, take the long way to everything and try to get as many steps as you can. Your ultimate goal is 10,000 steps in one day, but that takes a lot of effort and thought.

I just went to a support group meeting this week and it was all about exercise and movement. The lady suggested, while sitting at your desk, you could repeatedly walk yourself forward in your seat and then back; this is good for your hips, abs, and lower back. She also suggested, taking one leg at a time and slide forward on the floor and then back, do this at least 10-15 times per leg. This will help work your knees and upper thighs.

None of this will really get your heart rate up, but will help with flexibility.

The last thing is a DVD called Weigh2Win Bariatric Workout which includes 3 fitness levels and it includes things for pre-surgery. I want to get it for myself.

Hope it helps. Good luck on your surgery. I am still working towards mine.

Hello mhoholouk,

Welcome to the board, I can see it's your first post here how cool is that hehehe

Well I've lost 119lbs and I can tell you I have this problem now, although I apply all kind of expensive cosmetic shaping and firming creams and gels before my 3-5 hours daily workout. There is a slight improvement but I guess I will not escape from the surgeons knife.

One of our dearest friend on the board LittleLisaMarie just did her tummy tuck recently, I know also there is an old board friend her name is Hiedi she also did a tummy tuck..there are others who are now considering plastic surgeries. I guess that's the only side effect of losing weight! LOL

I cannot tell you how happy I feel now after I've lost more than 2/3 of my extra weight! I'm still battling to lose the rest but aahhh I can't remember when was the last time I weighed 216! maybe junior hi-school?

Go for it. You'll never regret it!

Hanadi

Basically, it's going to depend on your age, how much exercise you've done pre-op (to tone up your muscles and skin beforehand), your constitution, and genetics (oh, yeah ). fr1endly2/Lisa and tantesta/Stacy hasn't had it done, and there are at least a couple others who haven't.
