Default "walking away the pounds"

OK, so I started this new video exercise thingie this morning.(THANKS ALOT LISA ) LOL. I have been walking 1 to 2 miles and decided that since I am now 6 months out and been released to do other exercises, that I would try this out. (Did I thank you LISA? )

So the options on the tape are the 1 mile and the 2 mile I think. anyhoo, I opted for the one mile. Figured that I would see what it was all about and since I had been used to walking, it would be no problem. I WAS WRONG . Jeez! talk about an intense workout! sooooo, this is going to take me a while to build up my stamina to do. I mean not only are they walking, but then they have these balls they hold while working out. I'm doing good just making it through this without passing out! anyway, all kidding aside, this is one great workout ! Thanks Lisa

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Michele,

Lisa is the greatest. She mailed me a copy of the tape when I was first preop! Let me tell you I cherish that DVD especially on the days I cannot make it to the gym. It takes only 22 minutes to do the one mile walk so no matter how late I am running I can always manage to get that workout in!

Default walk it off

I have her two mile walk. I like the first one the best, it is not as bouncy type of walking. I watched it over and over and over until I got bored with it, my friend had killed herself during that time and I have not had the strength to play it again. I think I will this weekend. I think my friend is cheering for me to do so!!!!

I had did the tape so much that I had begun to walk outside to the beat of her music and get the same benefits. Plus I have hand weights to put on my hands and wrists to wear around the house while doing laundry and etc. Really tones the arms up.

Right now, I consider exercise a chore, a hassle, something I have to "fit" into my daily routine. I am going to have to get out of that mode and start looking at it as a lifesaver, my future depends on it and something to relax me.

I think 3 x a week would be good to start at, so it is kind of like I still have a choice of my days.

I will keep you posted.

Linda

Walking is one of the simplest and safest aerobic exercise you can do. It will help you strengthen your bones, control your weight, and condition your heart and lungs. Being consistent in your walking exercise routine is one of the most important factors in developing a healthy physical activity program. Research has shown that people who walk approximately 20-25 miles per week outlive those who don't walk by several years.

The following are some quick facts about walking:

On average, every minute of walking can extend your life by 1.5 to 2 minutes. That's about a 2 for 1 trade-off!

Walking an extra 20 minutes each day will burn off 7 pounds of body fat per year.

To burn off 1 plain M&M candy, you need to walk the full length of a football field. Think about that next time you dip your hand into a candy bowl at someone's office!

Longer, moderately-paced daily walks (40 minutes at 60% to 65% maximum heart rate) are best for losing weight.

Shorter, faster walks (20-25 minutes at 75% to 85% maximum heart rate) are best for conditioning your heart and lungs.

Walking provides the following benefits:

Improves efficiency of your heart and lungs

Burns body fat

Raises your metabolism so you are burning calories faster, even while you rest

Helps control your appetite

Increases your energy

Helps relieve stress

Slows aging

Reduces levels of cholesterol in your blood

Lowers high blood pressure

Helps control and prevent diabetes

Reduces risk of some forms of cancer including colorectal, prostrate, and breast

Aids rehabilitation from heart attack and stroke

Promotes intestinal regularity

Helps promote restful sleep

Strengthens muscles of your legs, hips, and torso

Strengthens your bones and reduces bone density loss in older women

Reduces stiffness in your joints due to inactivity or arthritis

Relieves most cases of chronic backache

Improves flexibility

Improves posture

Promotes healthier skin due to increased circulation

Improves mental alertness and memory

Spurs intellectual creativity and problem solving

Elevates mood

Helps prevent and/or reduce depression

Improves your self-esteem

Increases sexual vigor

Helps control addictions to nicotine, alcohol, caffeine, and other drugs

Walking is much more preferable than running or jogging because it creates less stress on your joints, including hips, knees, and ankles. Remember to properly warm up before and cool down after every walking session...your muscles will love you for it!
