| Exercise.... This is my first time to post a thread in this area...to be honest...I did a bunch of walking on the treadmill when I first had my surgery...but then, not so much! I really slacked off...I packed my house....and did what was necessary - but didn't go out of my way to do exercise. Wow....I'm amazed...it really made a difference walking all around NYC last week...I lost nearly 4#....just while I was there.... Isn't that insane??? I LOVE IT!!! Although...I wish I had prepared a little more...I was terribly out of breath at times walking up huge amounts of stairs in the subway....or walking blocks very fast to get to an appointment...but, I made it .... and survived! LisaMarie told me living in NYC would be a great thing for me (esp. exercise-wise living here is a sort of FORCED EXERCISE if you don't have a car!!) ...not only was I walking everywhere...but, climbing all the stairs up and down the subway...oh my!!! My muscles were aching...and I'm thrilled...and excited about when I'm living in NYC full time!! Now....I'm back in DRIVING AROUND TEXAS....everything is sooo spread out...oh, and is it HOT here...wow...I'd take the cool rain over this HEAT!!! |

Hey Deb, I have to admit that I prefer walking in NYC and up and down the subway stairs to almost any other form of exercise too. Notice I said ALMOST.... You keep this up and you will be to goal before me. That is okay, if someone has to beat me I would prefer it be someone as sweet as you and someone that I know is working hard to make this work for her. I was planning on going to the gym tonight since this afternoon I had to take the car to be inspected, but my dinner of baked boneless pork did not settle well, so we will see. I think part of the problem is that I did not eat too much throughout the day due to running a lot of errands. I will do a friendly celebration booty dance for your success instead....kay?

| Femme, get a pedometer and see how many steps you take, you'll have actual numbers you can refer to, in how much exercise you are getting in.
Get that walk in, gal, and you'll be flying in no time at all!! |

| Ooooh....good Idea! I think I will get out the pedometer now...and then I can compare the walking to what I do now....hmmmmm. Interesting. I'm tired of being in the car...but, everything is too far apart to walk here in TX... Incidentally Doc, we are living in Carrollton...LOL...south of George Bush...I think if I rmember right we are now VERY near Craig and Leslie!! LOL. OH....guess what else....we were driving to IKEA today...and our Air Conditioning went out in our 2003 Honda!!! (thank you God, that it did not happen on our LONG journey...ahhh!) Hopefully it will be covered on the warrenty...I can't believe it's JULY in TX...and we have no AIR in the car!!!!! Is this for real????? |

Oh wow, Deb that sucks about the air conditioning. I think it would be awesome to meet President George W. personally. There was a little league T-Ball team from our neighborhood that got to go and play T-Ball at the White House and receive a signed baseball from the President themselves. I think that would have been so cool to go to. I hope your ac starts working and that it is covered under warranty.

| again i must chime in even though i am only a pre-op. Carleton Place (where i live) is a fairly small town and most people can walk from one end to the other without to much trouble. i on the other hand have tried it and only get about 2 blocks before i have to stop and sit, and they don't have that many benches around. however and this may sound silly, but now that i have the truck, i already am finding that i am walking more. i am getting out of the house off of my butt, so just walking to the truck and back to the apartment is excercise but i also try to park a fair distance in a parking lot so i get that extra few steps in there. need to get a pedometer. i'm not sure how i'll do after surgery with the walking because i hate walking, but hopefully as i lose weight it will get easier and i'll like it again. i used to love going for walks, not so much now, in fact i can't even remember when the last time i went for a walk just for the sake of going for a walk, Roo says he'll walk with me after the surgery so there's a little incentive right there,
