Default Tail bone issues with wt loss

I attend 3 support meetings a month. A common topic is tailbone pain as you lose weight. Sitting in chairs, cushioned or hard, is difficult for some post ops. I had a minor issue with this at about 1 year post op, but many in my support groups complain about it from 4+ months post op. I saw something on QVC.com the other day, and purchased it. It's a molded, sligtly padded "seating surface" that helps distribute your weight. It's called a Back Joy. You can see more on it at www.backjoy.com or www.howtosit.com . QVC's price was about $36, and the backjoy site's price is higher. The Back Joy is lighweight, easily taken from home to use in your car, in your office, to meetings, etc. This might be the answer to that "pain in your butt" that bothers you daily. DAVE

Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Thanks for the info. I definitely have problems from time to time, depending on the type of seat I'm sitting in. Believe it or not, my couch seems to be the biggest issue, I think because I slouch when I sit on it.

Hi Dave. Good to see you're still around.

I broke my tailbone back in 2002 (fell down a flight of steps trying to carry something and not good with stairs because of my weight) and it hasn't been the same since. Though come to think of it, it hasn't hurt much since I've lost all the weight.

I just did a quick search on eBay and found them listed from $38.35 to $57.95, which is still a lot better than the Backjoy site's 3 payments of $33.33. Check it out at backjoy, Health Beauty items on eBay.com

The QVC link is Backjoy Portable Supportive Back Orthotic - QVC.com and their price is $36.94. The one on the Back Joy site appears different, and I'm not sure if it's a "deluxe mode", thet latest model or what. But QVC probably offers cheaper shipment than many of the Ebay sites. DAVE

Default tail bone hurts

Hi,
I was searching for some info, if others who have had the surgery suffer from there tail bone getting in the way !! I can barely sit after a 120 loss, for any amount of time. it seems to shut off my legs some how and starts to ache as i sit. I will take the advice and get a support. Its beginning to be a real problem and was wandering how others were dealing with it...

Carivin Mom it should relived it self somewhat after a few weeks. If not go to your physican. Dave posted a great link to get a cushion for that problem. I know mine has flared up 3-4 times since surgery as the padding goes away. I wonder if skinny people have this problem?

thanks for letting me know that others have this issue. Im going to try the pillow thats been suggested. I never thought id be complaining about losing so much i cant sit on my tail bone. Its good and bad at the same time.
Not only my tail bone went to heck but my feet did the same thing.. I am going to physical therapist to walk straight and get my balance back. seems like losing made me walk in a different gate and my feet went from walking on the outside to walking on the inside of my shoes. SO had to get special insoles and they sure feel good. Geeze another fifty pounds i and might be all falling apart!!!
THanks Again.. carvinmom

Thanks so much guys ! This is perfect for my sister who suffers from tailbone pain since an accident last year. I just call Bed Bath & Beyond and I'm going to pick one up. BTW, my sister's birthday is next week
