| June 9th, How are you exercising today? Hi, I've been busy with appointments all week and haven't started this thread. Please keep it going and start it for the day if I haven't had a chance. I think it can be a good source of accountability just like the 'whatcha eating' thread is. Okay, that being said I will share my workout so far for today.
Since I'm once again glued to the phone today as I am playing phone tag with the GI docs office. I decided to do 20 minutes of resistance band training and then I did 30 minutes of the Wii Fit free step aerobics. I'm kind of proud of myself for the self taught modifications I've incorporated into my routines. For instance because of my bum knee while doing reverse lunges with backward row or squats with bench presses I listen to my body and go only to the point I know I can do safely and without pain. I am definitely still getting a good workout and not quitting because of pain. I have worked up to doing 3 sets of 10 reps on 8 different exercises with the resistance bands. I absolutely love them and can feel quite a difference in all my muscles. Another modification I made today with the Wii step aerobic was for to push up the intensity a little more. For those of you who have this exercise game you know that you can control the speed to a certain degree. In my opinion I don't think it's enough. While doing it today at the highest speed allowed (which isn't very quick) I started thinking of ways I could intensify the workout. At first I thought about going out to the barn and finding something I could raise the height with as you know how low the game board is. But then I thought for now going higher wouldn't be so good for the knee so I tried something else. Instead of just taking a usual little step off and then back on, I started taking long steps on and off. I definitely felt a difference and worked a good sweat. I can't afford a personal trainer nor a gym membership right now so I'm learning as I go and through a lot of trial and error. I've learned a lot from the internet also. I have never in my life up until a few months ago exercised for fitness so I know that if you are just starting out you can do this too! Sorry for once again for being so long winded! Have a great Day! |
