Default Running?

Has anyone tried, is using, or has used the running program described in runnersworld.com? It's supposed to get you to a point where you can run/jog for 30 minutes.
I'm thinking of trying it, but want feedback from anyone who has tried this or some other program.
Thanks!!!!!

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

I have and I have ran in the past...I have trouble with my hip flexors and I am just a hair too heavy to run yet...I am close...just a few pounds and I will be ready. I can walk like the dickens tho!

Good luck.

Hi,
I started running about 8 months out from surgery (I am almost 2 years out) and I could only run 1-2 miles. I just kept it up and started working on my time. If I could run 2 miles in 30 minutes then I worked on getting to 10 min/mile. Then I would add more distance. Then I would decrease my time. Then add more distance and so on. I wont lie....I pushed my self and that is how you make progress. Just start out slow and keep it up!! You CAN do it!! My workouts are now 6-8 miles twice a week and a long run of 12-15 miles on the weekends and my pace is about 8.5 min/miles. Running a marathon has always been on my bucket list and I started with a half marathon and I have run 5 halfs since. I plan on running a full in October. Even if this is not your goal you can work up to where you want to be!! All you have to do is have dedication and consistency!!

Good luck with your training, oh yeah any beginners running program will be fine. If the program uses a 5K or 10K training, I would start with the 5K and make sure you put in that you are a beginner! You have to start somewhere!! Take is slow and if your body hurts, as in pain not soreness, take some time off and resume when it goes away!! Injuries are no good!!

Happy Running!!

I would be curious of the answers too! I read somewhere about one....run some/walk some. Is it possible to learn to run even if you have no experience! I would love to try it....now to get off my butt and start!

There is a program available for the Kindle that will progress you smoothly from walk-run to running a 5k. I just downloaded it recently and haven't had a chance to try it out yet.

I've never been a runner... so I don't see me changing that anytime soon - I want to get back on a bicycle though - I used to love riding a bike

My neighbor just lent me this book on the run-walk-run method. It's called "Running Until You're 100"
  • For runners in their 40s, 50s 60s and 70s
  • For beginners and advanced runners
  • Stay injury-free and enjoy running more than ever
So far its been really good.

CT... What is the name of the program you downloaded for your Kindle?

Ease into 5K. Ease into 5K.
Not a bad deal for 3 bucks. It claims it'll take you from nothing to competing in a 5k in only 8 weeks.

Runners world got me to my first 5K last month. It's free to sign up, and I got an email every day with a run for that day. Starts out with a run/walk rotation x 5 times: run a minute, rest a minute x 5 times. When I started, I could barely make it a minute. I think that was called "5 weeks to a running habit". I really liked it, and now I'm training for my 2nd 5K. I'm not nor ever will be a "runner" other than these little events to work toward, so it was great for me. I can now run about 10 minutes at a time. Try it!!
