I have been walking around my small block and there are times when I want to try going around again and then I feel winded. I am glad that I am hearing all of your stories because it lets me know that I am not failing at this part. The last thing that I want is for the doctor to say, "We came all of this way and you are not excercising enough." I am really trying but I do get worn out with just one lap. It has only been 5 days too. I have been doing a complete lap (about 1/3 of a mile for 2 days now). So, I don't know should I be grateful for where I am at this time. I am also getting a little aching pain in my one hip. Is this normal? Thanks for i wawelcoming me in.
Minnie Me 2 Be Welcome to the board.
I am surprised that your surgeon is pushing you.
IN time you will be less winded and able to walk
5 days post op i could only walk 2 houses past mine
had to turn around and come back. IT took me
long time to do more.
MY first 3 months i was only cleared for walking.
THEN after that I was cleared for my gym.

I wouldnt stress over this right now but i know later on
its important to have good excerise routines to help maintain.
JUST allow yourself to hear and dont push more then you can do
is how my surgeon had it early out.
As for that little bit of pain in the hip im not sure of but i would be
sure to let your surgeon know of that being how recently you had surgery.
I look forward to getting to know you thru your posts!

hugs

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

We;come to the board, Mini,
Since you are less than a week out, it is normal for you to feel winded, just as it is normal for you to still have some pain.
You had lap gastric bypass, I gather.

I am keeping this post here, since it is about exercise, but I am also copying this into Your Profile, and giving you an independent thread, where you are sure to get more hellows,

(((((HUGS)))) May your journey go well.

Good afternoon and I know you will be fine. Here are some general and safety tips after you get your clearance from your doctor. Only you can follow these tips after that medical clearance to protect yourself and your doctor too. Cardio, can you be done everyday. Lifting weights is to be done every other day. Cardio, take your time and go for 10 to 15mins. Then build yourself slowly by increasing by 3 to 5 minutes. There is walking and swimming and swimming is the better of the two. Lifting weights can you should lift from biggest to smallest muscles (legs, chest, upper back, shoulders, arms, wrists, lower back and stomach). Your core muscles, lower back and stomach are to be done last b/c they help with form. Otherwise you will have less fatigue with this order. Form is very important so you won't get new injuries. Feel free to have a fitness attendant or personal trainer watch you form while performing a lift. Have a log of your progress so you and your doctor and watch your progress too and if you have a personal trainer he or she should be charting your progress. If you have any questions about general or safety tips for the gym just email me. I'm Kyle and I'm a nationally certified personal trainer for 8yrs. I have been training parkinson's, diabetes, law enforcement, doctors, nurses, weekend warriors, adapted (handicapped), athletes and myself. Have a good day and all you'll be fine with all the hugges . Hello Hanadi!
My MD ok'd the treadmill for walking after 2 weeks. This just reinforces the notion that MD's have different philosophies and your surgeon knows your condition. So I would rec asking your MD (sorry)
