Default Yesterday at a Family Party. THE MUST QUESTION

Well Folks, yesterday we had a celebration of my niece's Baptism, anyway you know the drill... Church and Party in the afternoon.

Anyway family is rather big from my mother's side 8 sisters and 2 brothers and my dad's side same story. So we are at the party and of course some people saw me 60 pounds ago . So you know "Looking Good" "what are U doing" You look so good.

Anyway one of my Aunt's wanted the name of the person who was seeing my case.. SO I LIED.... Sorry folks I lied not ready to tell everyone what I did with my life... Yes I told my aunt I will get you the Info via Email.. I just hope se forgets, since I dont see them very often I wonder what will be my excuse in December 2008 ....

Have anyone have had this or similar experience..... Anyway the UPSIDE it sures feels good to be noticed desides of having a "good heart"

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

I don't understand exactly what you are saying. But if you meant you are not telling people you have had WLS - don't be sorry - you do what ever you feel comfortable with. You don't owe anyone anything.

Do whatever you feel comfortable with. If you tell them you are doing it under medical supervision and watching what you eat, you know it isn't a lie, you are telling the truth, only omitting a wee bit of info.

What did you mean by 'handling your case'?
It is great to be noticed for our hard work, but we're all different. I told everyone because I have a hard time keeping my mouth shut, LOL!!!

You did what you thought was the best thing to do for you. Don't doubt that.

Only my close family knows (sister, brother, parents, husband, children) and a couple of people at work (in case of an emergency). I am choosing not to tell anyone beyond that. Its something that I want to keep to myself.

Not sure what I will do when I am asked (I haven't been yet), but EVERYBODY at work knows that I am "dieting". I am losing so slowly that no one really suspects anything other than that, I guess.

It is your own personal choice, I like Ms. Vickie told everyone. (Except my mother for a long time, she knows now) The only thing about that is people do watch what you eat. And depending on the person will occaisionally comment. I take it all in stride. In my new office not everyone knows and they all have too much class as to make a comment on my food intake. In my old office, they would come right out and say, "You can eat that???" But then I was the 4th person in the orginization to have the surgery. So all the catty women who really wanted to have the surgery but couldn't or wouldn't would watch you like a hawk.

It has became very obvious to my church family that I am losing weight. Every Sunday or Wednesday I have someone tell me how great I look and ask how I am losing. I just go ahead and tell them I had surgery. I figure if I am willing to make such a drastic change in my lifestyle, why should I be embarrassed. I care enough about myself and my family to make that choice. Maybe my story could help them.
I want to be the one who changes their negative outlook on WLS. It never fails that sharing my decision prompts several of them to say, "I know so-n-so who did that and gained all their weight back." My response is always, "I hate to hear that, but I don't anticipate in gaining all mine back. I attend regular support group meetings and have the support of my family to help me stick to my goal." I also tell them it is not an easy choice or an overnight miracle. It is only a tool and it is up to me to make it work. (And by the grace of God it will work) Of course it is up to each of us to determine whether or not we want people to know about our WLS and we each deal differently with such personal issues that affect us. We have traveled a long journey of dissapointment, unhappiness, depression & hopelessness because of our weight issues and stuggles to overcome them. I guess I just feel so good about my choice that I want to try and change how others perceive it and make them see the good in it. But this is how I chose to deal with it. We each have our own way. Besides...I didn't do for them...I did it for ME!
