| husband and weight loss fears
hi all,
just a bit worried about my husband, he has supported me in my wls and has been there for me there is 10yrs difference in age i am now 53 which is what spurred me on to change my life for the second half lol anyway he has started to exercise quite a lot, he isnt overweight at all and fit for his age but hes weighing himself and telling me what hes lost and im worried why is he doing this like hes trying to keep in front as my weight loss draws nearer to his weight ive told him he looks fine and theres no need to wear himself out like this and leaving food and throwing it away and its all healthy stuff is he just feeling insecure do ya think i love him dearly and am really worried ive tried talking to him about it but he just says he dosent need all the food thats all im at at loss as he works long hard hours and is up exercising at 4 30am every morning what do you think any ideas thanks jx

Is he 10 years younger, or 10 older? What's his height vs: weight? Assuming he's fit and not the slightest bit overweight, I still wouldn't worry about his eating less. I seriously doubt he will starve himself. I think he's seeing you taking action to ensure your health in you "old" age and he's realizing that he needs to work at that too if he wants to be around in the future (especially if he's 63).
My hubby had been hitting the treadmill and weights too and I feel that he's just trying to get fit because I am. This surgery affects the whole family! Isn't that something?

As you grow older (middle age and beyond) you need less calories to keep up the same body. (In other words, if you eat the same amount you will gain weight!! )
He sounds like he knows how to take care of himself, so I'd say don't worry.
Let him do what he wants to, if it's a whim, then things will eventually slow down.

I think he's trying to look good for you too. You're doing your best to lose weight for health and appearance, and he could be doing it too as he's showing you he's interested in your progress. Many men lose weight when their wives have RNY surgery. The smaller portions and healthier foods can affect their husbands too. In some cases the husbands initially gain weight, as they eat the food the wife cannot finish off of her dinner plate.

I Think He Is Picking Up On Your Healthy Habits....
I Wouldn't Be So Concerned. It's For The Best For Him As Well As You..
Why Not Ask Him If He'd Mind If You Join Him In His Workout????

He probably wants to make sure he stays as hot as you! Seriously, my hubby is sort of on the same kick and I just figure it's better to be focused on healthy and go a little overboard than the other way around. Besides, I think he is determined that I won't weigh less than him! (he is 174 now......he better watch out!)

I agree with everyone else. He's seeing your changing appearance and attitude and he's getting on the bandwagon. My husband is 8 years older than I am and he's not heavy by any means. He's 5'10" and weighs about 170. He's about 10 lbs overweight for where he likes to be but he gained it going through chemo. He complains about losing it but doesn't do anything for it. I'm actually looking forward to him getting on the bandwagon with me. Right now he finishes our kids plates when they don't eat. LOL I mentioned to him night before last that if he wanted to lose, he should stop doing that.
Also, Usually as summer nears he tends to start thinking of his weight. He weighs himself daily and broadcasts his weight. It's almost like a kid who's started a new game. LOL
Don't worry about it and like a PP said.... ask him if you can join him in his workouts.
