I am planning a trip to Jamaica in October. Has anyone been there? I'm not even sure which part of Jamaica to look at, let alone what resort to choose. Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Haven't been to Jamaica but I heard from some people who went that Americans have to be careful there because there is a lot of crime and car jackings. Not trying to ruin your vacation but it is better to be safe than sorry.

Friends of mine went for their honeymoon and stayed at the Sandals resort. They really liked it, but were a little shocked at the poverty all around. Guess it can be like that anywhere- but I know they loved the resort.

OMG...have fun!!! Just remember that there really isnt a speed limit there and they have lots of curves!!! I have been to Jamaica Jamaica quite a few times. We lived in Guatanamo Bay Cuba for 4 years and would hop flights and military ships over for a day or 2 at a time on the weekends. I worked for a Cuban/Jamaican whose family owned a hotel right there and they always took care of us. It is so much fun there!!
