Default Whaddaya think?

Ok, so I'm still working on wrapping my brain around the "new me". I encountered this lady the other day, who, in a very caring manner, told me that I should seek counseling for my body image ~ after talking about WLS and adjustments for only 5 minutes!!!! I figure that you guys know me much better than that so I'll seek your opionion. I know - you want pix and I'll try to do that soon - but she's telling me I'm too thin (huh???) and I need to be careful. People!!! I'm a size 10-12. I'm barely normal on the BMI thingy and that's only since last week! And why is this bothering me so much? If anything, I should be ecstatic someone said anything about being too thin!

On a funnier note, for those of you who wear glasses, I found that if you stand in the shower approximately 8 feet away from a full size mirror with your glasses off! I don't notice all the sagging and wrinkles!!! I actually like what I do see ~ LOL! Have a great day

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

People are use to seeing the old you and it's when they see the new you it's difficult to adjust. They will come around in time.

I am even shorter than you and when I was that weight and size at age 18 (for 6 months) people told me to gain weight (which I did, but not for them!). I think people just aren't used to seeing you that small. It's hard for us to say because like you said, we need pictures (wink, wink), but I'm sure you look just fine!

I agree, people get used to seeing us as the way we were and the newer image to them is SMALL, no matter what size we are. My family does not believe me when I tell them that I am 180, they say that I can not weigh that much.

I'd never met this woman before. It started with a conversation about hysterectomies and horrormones and spanx (those firming undergarments) and then the conv progressed from there and "why do you think you need that?" Hee Hee - she cant see what I do!!!!! LOL

I really need to look into that SPANX thing. I had a HORRIBLE time last night looking for an outfit...seems like everything that I tried on that FIT should my apron and I felt disgusting with it.

Yeah, I find I am still "dressing big" because I think I can disguise my tummy issue. Talk about head in the sand ~ why did I think I could "hide" my size 24 body in black before? Camo might have been more effective ~ LOL. My main thing now is that my lower ab area still has quite the pooch - I remember hating girls who fussed about this when I was larger - but now I know it's really a matter of body image and feeling comfortable in our own skin ~~~ and, let's face it, I still have a significant pooch! At least from my vantage point looking down. I did talk to a sports med nurse last week at work and she told me that it really is just the way the female body is designed, what with carrying babies and all. She suggested PS if I was going for perfection but that really It's about adjusting to being a normal woman and accepting the way my genes are arranged.

When I went for my 6 month checkup the surgeon's nurse confessed to me that she really didn't think I needed the surgery, but she had changed her mind now that she saw me afterwards. I was 100 pounds overweight but it was well packed and a lot of people didn't think I needed to do the surgery to lose it. SIGH

Now that I'm down 75 pounds everyone is saying how skinny I'm getting and they are always shocked when I say I would like to lose another 25. They don't see what I get to see when my clothes are off - lots of fat still in the hips and thighs and upper arms. Clothes do hide a lot (BTW I'm in size 12 too). Only we and our DHs know what we are hiding.

And this person sounds like one of those know-it-alls that think they are an expert on everything. At 5'6" your goal of 145 sounds reasonable to me, certainly not anorexic or anything. Ignore this person. What does DH think?
