I had an awesome time this weekend at my friend's wedding. It was so elegant. Instead of giving favors to everyone, they donated money to the local food pantry in honor of each guest. I thought that was awesome. The diet went out the window....I probably had enough food to feed the people at the local food pantry LOL. It was amazing food and I start Medifast tomorrow so it was my "farewell "party to all food that is yummy. There was a hot tub and pool at the hotel but I didn't bring my suit( lucky them ). Iam worried about starting the liquid diet and now my mother is starting with her antics again. She was at a picnic at the park this weekend and met up with someone who recently had surgery. I don't know what the whole conversation was about but I guess my mother or someone else asked the person if she wanted some bread and something to drink and the person said I can't have bread and I can only drink at certain periods of time. My mother started to scream at me and say "Is that how you want to live your life? You can't eat hardly anything or drink when you want. What kind of bullshit is that?" Is it true that you can NEVER have bread again? Now I am getting all worried again. I know I need this surgery...My ankle swells to the size of an orange and this weekend my feet turned purple. I have diabetes so I am scared. I tried to tell my mom that it is only early out that there are restrictions but later on, you are able to eat "normally". AAAHHH!!!

First of all welcome back on the board
second of all I'm so happy that you enjoyed your time at the wedding. if I were you I'd forget the diet infront of all the parties luxarious food too hehehehe.
Now for your mom fear, I know what is it all about my mom actually knew that I did the WLS surgery 3 months after I had mine. She thought I removed the Galbladder hehehehe I know how moms nag I hate it too. and for the bread of course you can eat bread (even the hard one like el3eesh elmasri) but maybe on your 4th month. but even bvefore that you can eat toast and the soft or the roasted dried ones.
relax honey, the WLS is exactly what you need. of course with all the weight that we carried around with us we have caused more damage than what this WLS will do!
Now if anyone would ask me would you do the surgery all over again I'd say YESSSSSSSSS OUT LOUD. with all these results I'll so it even if I reach my 70's.
When is your date?
Good luck
Hanadi

Hanadi,
It is good to know that I still will be able to eat bread. What is an Egyptain without bread and jebna of course Hahaha. My mom is very over protective. I can't use the gallbladder excuse because I already had it removed and she was there but thanks for the suggestion. My father says," Habibty, whatever is best for your health...inshallah all will be well" Why are mother's difficult?! Wait a minute ...I'm a mother LOL Thanks for the support!

Welcome back, I am glad that you had a good time. As for your mom, she is just worried and I suppose that is her way of letting you know it. Thats what moms are for...you know it. LOLOL You will get to a point where you can eat the things that you could not right after surgery, but it is going to be up to you on how you decide to eat. Dont worry so much...you are making the best decision for you and you are going to do just fine with it.

Welcome back, glad you had a great time. I too am struggling a bit with the "last meals" mind set. I think it's common.

Sure you can have bread again. It might not sit well at first but evenutally you may be able to eat it. Im 8 almost 9 months out and just now I can tolerate a tad bit. I will say when I first researched this surgery it bothered me about the stuff I wouldnt be able to eat or eat for a while. As time went on I was litterally killing myself eating. After you start losing and feeling really good your mom will change I hope. We are here to help you along ok. Remember your doing this for you.......not anyone else.

Glad to hear you had a great time.
Bascially, you can have any food you wish, once your system settles into a routine, unless your pouch doesn't like whatever--which, you know, happens from time to time.
As for drinking, I'm sure you already know, you can't drink with your meals, and you have to wait 30 mins to an hour after meals to resume drinking, the time lag depending on your surgeon's instructions.
For a while, you will just have to learn to let your mother's comments blow over you head and not let them get into your head. This is tough, but it often is part of the package.
When your mother can actually see the results of the surgery, and realise how healthy and how happy you've become, I'm sure she'll back down.
((((((HUGS)))))
