Man oh man did I have a Mommy dearest moment today. I have really been feeling on edge the last few days- my husband is out of town and it's like 115 degrees and the kids and I have been cooped up in the house a lot. The kids have not been feeling well, so they are whiny and fighting constantly. Today after an hour of "cleaning up" her room (lots of groaning, whining, fake cleaning, you get the idea) I finally went in my daughters room and LOST IT!  I threw everything in the hall and told the kids any toys left in the hall in 5 minutes would go in the trash. Amazingly every toy was put away in it's correct place before time was up. (why that couldn't have happened before the Mommy meltdown, I will never know!) The kids were so upset that they cried the whole time they cleaned up appaled that I would throw the toys away.....the thing is....I WOULD have! I wasn't kidding around, but I should have been a little calmer when I threw (I mean nicely placed) the toys in the hall. I can't believe how edgy I feel, this whole process has really made me more emotional. I really like my easy laid back self that wouldn't care a bit....WHERE IS SHE? 
BTW I did apologize to my kids later and my 3 year old had no clue what I was referring to.....so I guess they aren't scarred for life!

Yikes...these days do tend to happen, even before surgery with me. Once the kids get older, they learn those buttons and constantly try to "tweak them". Dont be so hard on yourself.

Join the club. We had a toy throwing away incident a few weeks ago. He needs no help or more energy to make the mess but when it comes time to clean he feigns being tired and he 'can't do it by himself'. I always feel bad, but I try to hard to keep this house presentable and he is just making mess after mess. The other day he said he wanted to color. He didn't tell me he wanted to color the floor in 5 or 6 places, dishwasher, fridge, stool, and washing machine. All this took about 2 minutes flat and thank god it was a washable marker, but they love to push buttons.

Dont be to hard on yourself like the others said. We have all had those moments and they usually turn out very well like yours did. My son had the picking toys up problem to. They all seem to have that disease lol.

Oh girl I totally hear you!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have found since I am pregnant my hormones are wacky and I can go from nice to witch in two seconds flat. I warn them that if I have to say something more than once there will be a price to pay...and they have had me coming into their room with a trash bag for the crap on the floor more than once after three tries at cleaning. ARGH! It can make ya looney for sure. Kids are a challenge....sometimes I wonder what in the world I was thinking to want any as patience is NOT my virtue!?!?!? LOL
I watch Super Nanny religiously and think maybe I need her to come visit....and show me how to tame the lion. hee hee

Thanks for all your kind words- parenting is definitely the hardest and most rewarding job in the world. Here are my little stinkers doing what they love to do....making a mess! I took pictures in the moment so I wouldn't lose persepective on how funny it really was. (although, not at the time!) Now I think they are hilarious! One is baby powder, the other hummingbird nectar, and the last is my son with flour. I really do keep an eye on them....I swear!!
