I was at my 6-month post-op checkup yesterday with my wife along to find out if I was going to live or not.  She had strong reservations about this crazy WLS idea when I first mentioned it, and it took her quite a while to be able to support me in it. But she has seen it work for me, and likes the changes (except she says I'm getting too skinny! She's never known me at this weight, and she's known me 39 years!)
Based on some of the information available as I was preparing for it, we had assumed that she would be a poor candidate for WLS. Six months ago, though, I was 50 pounds heavier than her, and now I'm 50 pounds lighter, and frankly, she's a bit jealous!! Anyway, we were talking with the nurses and she said that she wished she could have this, too, but ...
We discussed the reasons she thought she couldn't, and we found that, while they are conditions that will be investigated and watched, they do not of themselves eliminate her from consideration. So the nurses told her that the window is open for her.
That is a huge opportunity for her!! She told me on the way home that she hadn't allowed herself to think of it, and now she needs to decide if she could go through with it, but if I were a betting man, I'd bet there's another WLS in our family by year's end!! She knows more about it than most of us going in, as she's watched me prepare and then make it work. She is frustrated enough where she is and what she's doing that I think she'll do it.
I can't wait to get my skinny wife back!!

That's wonderful news, I hope she will be able to go through.
Even if she can't in the end, I'm sure that eating healthily along with you will help her immensely.

DO you know how many times I've been asked if "i'd be qualified for the surgery??" PEople don't realize how overweight they are cause so many of us are & its becoming the "Norm"!!!!!!!!!!
So glad your wife is loooking into the surgery for herself, with a great supportive husband by her side, she's sure to do wonderful!!!!!!!!!!
