 |  Sister has Colon Cancer
My sister who is 16 monhts younger than me found out yesterday that she has stage 3 colon cancer. She has a very large tumor near the end and then again further up in the colon. It is amazing how fast they are moving this along. Friday was the colonoscopy, Monday got the results and today she seen the cancer doctor and on Friday she is going to Milwaukee to see the surgeon for more tests. The tumor is so large they do not want to operate right away so she will start with Chemo and Radiation to try to shrink it down. She is a tough women and has always had to do 'it' on her own. Her ex was an abusive drinker so she left when my niece was 6 weeks old. He's never been in the picture nor has evey helped them financial. Wendy has a really good job and makes good money, she should be proud of herself.
We are all having a hard time coping with this. We have never had cancer in our family. Now this! Why? I'm sorry I am just rambling. I couldn' sleep and it is late. The tears do not stop and I know I have to be strong for both her and her daugher Jamie (she'll be 16 in Oct). I have decided that I am going to apply for FMLA so I can help with the driving up to her appts. My mom does not drive on the freeway and my dad doesn't mind however he is losing his 'mind', poor thing. I honestly do not think I could sit at work wondering and waiting anyway.
Will you all say a prayer for her and help give the family some strength?

Kim, even tho I am new here I want to tell you how sorry I am to hear about your sister. Things like this never seem fair and I know that as hard as it is to understand, God has all the controll in this. He takes this terrible burdon onto Himself. I am praying for your families.
Your allowed to break down, doesnt mean your not strong, just means your caring. Cry when you want, laugh when you can and like any other thing in our lives this is a journey. Not one you care to take, but none the less its a journey. Be there for your sister, cry with your sister and laugh with your sister, even in the roughest times there is always something to laugh at.
Sisters are a special gift. Lots of times gifts are unwrapped 1 layer at a time. Think of this as one more layer.
