Talking Gergea'an Ramadan 2008 (=Arabic Trick or treat)

Hey girls,

Every Ramadan between night 12-15 we have in Arabic/Muslim culture an event which is similar to (Halloween Trick or treat thing) except without the frightening activities hehehehe.

Kids at at that event knock the neighborhood doors, seek Gergea'an treats and sing songs for the kids of the sought house. It's very cute social activity and it's an event when all the kids are dressed up with traditional clothes and sing traditional songs.

Normally the treat comprises of candies, nuts, and now adays small toys lol

This picture invesages how the old Kuwaities do Gergea'an so maybe you can picture the idea

Here are few pictures of my kids and family celebrating the Gergea'an of 2008.

Enjoy them

Come cuddle aunte Hanadiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii (squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeze) LOL

My little family, LOL Jude with her silly face hehehehe

Hey Girls what do you think of the Botox and the fillers Job?? LOL I should admit that on that night I wasn't feeling well you can tell from my sleepy tight tired eyes I had the most horrible stomach ache OUCH
Mom asked me if got pregnant wahahahahhaha Gosh moms are sweet moms everywhere LOL

Mom and all her grand children.
PS. my sister in the gold/brown gown is the one who did the GBS 3 months ago and she's doing awesome
People are saying that after I have lost weight that I so much resemble my yougest sister in the light Blue is that true?

me so happy in this years Gergea'an gown (Dara'ah). heheheh look at my brother's envyous l@@K?!!!!

Children knocked our house tonight, this is how they sing the traditional songs

and this is how Jude and Dana were giving the treats, hehehehe Dana is the funniest kid in the world while she's giving the treat in one of the kids bag she backed off for a second because she liked one of the candies she was giving and has put it in her mouth instead hehehehe isn't she adorable?!!!

Tomorrow my kiddo's will celebrate the event at school, I'll take more pictures and will update later.

Time for me to get to bed it's so late

Nighty night

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

This looks like a wonderful tradition. I wish we could do this instead of the scary costumes here. Did you explain Ramadan in another thread? I am not sure I understand it.

Hi Thin within,

Welcome to the board, it's really nice to see you don't forget to stick in here this is a very great support group.

Well thanks for being interested OK Ramadan is a Muslim religious observance that takes place during the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, believed to be the month in which the Qur'an was revealed to Angel Gabriel, to deliver it to Prophet Muhammad. It is the Islamic month of fasting (sawm), in which participating Muslims do not eat or drink anything from dawn until sunset. Fasting is meant to teach the person patience, sacrifice and humility. Ramadan is a time to fast for the sake of God, and to offer more prayer than usual. During Ramadan Muslims ask forgiveness for past sins, pray for guidance into the future, ask for help in refraining from everyday evils and try to purify themselves through self-restraint and good deeds.

This is in breif what's Ramadan
I'm looking forward to talk to you more in the future and Happy losing, keep up your good work

Good night

Love,
Hanadi

Thank you Hanadi. I am loving this board. You are all so friendly. In answer to your question on one of your pictures. Yes, you do look like your younger sister in the light blue. And your girls are beautiful.

Wonderful pics, thanks for sharing. Yes, you and your sister look like twins
Traditional costumes are always beautiful and wonderful. I am of the belief that since traditional clothes developed over centuries, they bring out the best in beauty and character of the respective group of people to whom these cothes belong. Those of us who have these traditional costumes in our daily lives are very fortunate to have been able to carry them over through history.

Hanadi- thanks for sharing part of your life with us! I had no idea what Ramadan was even though I have heard of it for years. Your family and home are beautiful and you look great!

We have neighbors from Syria and Jordan and they have such a beautiful home and regard their backyard (as we would call it) as their garden. We visit them and our kids play together and much of what is spoken is Arabic between the mom and kids- such a beautiful language. They are honestly the most hospitable family and the mom spends the entire time trying to feed me and my kids. I had to explain I had surgery and couldn't eat all the food- and she still tries to feed me. My kids love going there! LOL

Thin within,

You're welcome honey please don't hesitate to PM if you need any further help. I'm so blessed to be part of the RR family I owe them my WL success

Judijo,

ohhhh how precious is your lovely daughter, she's so beautiful like her mom. I'm glad that you liked the pictures

DocSanea,

Thanks sweetheart, yes I absolutely agree we're so lucky to have such a wealthy culture that gets inherited from one generation after the other. and you said it well the diamond of culture gets polished and more and more shiny with years.

kbrfm,
hehehe I'm not surprised by your Arab neighbors that's the Arab attitude. They always show their love by feeding and maybe that's why we're the second or maybe first country with obesity =/

Diana,

I'm very happy that you licked the pictures, I wish if you were with me here in Kuwait I would def send you some of the Gergea'an treat

Thanks all for your nice comments, love you all

Cheers
Hanadi
