| Feeling quilty
Okay so I just posted a big wow for me for dropping 3 more pounds. I am very happy and excited. BUT I am feeling quilty for even feeling this way. As most of you know my sister was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer a couple of months ago. Her surgery is this Thursday, the 18th. When I think of all she has already gone through and still has to go through I get mad and scared for her and her daughter (heck for all of us). Today she went for her pre-op and came home and cried all day and kept saying she isn't going to go on Thrusday. I am just sick over all of this I truly am.
Darn I feel like crap for even feeling great about my wow this morning. In fact I am feeling pretty anxious right now. What kind of a sister am I?? To top it off my boss says she cannot find (too convenient?) my request for off on Thursday and the schedule is posted so I cannot be at the hospital. Now I cannot call in sick because she knows I want off.
Everyone please keep sending your thoughts and prayers for her. Thanks!

First off... I think it's CRAP that your boss won't let you off, knowing the reasons you want it off. It's not like you want to go shopping or something. My prayers are with your sister on Thursday.
As for you... You can still rejoice in your own successes and be concerned for your sister at the same time. You earned that 3 lb loss and you should be proud of yourself. You can feel more than one emotion at a time. Being happy over your own successes doesn't take away from the love and concern and worry you have for your sister. Wouldn't she be just as proud of you???
((((HUGS))))

Would your sister feel you were more faithful to her if you felt terrible about everything, 24/7? Or (more likely), if she knew that her situation was sucking the light out of your own eyes, would it make her feel worse because of the effect it was having on you?
You are not disloyal to take a moment of joy from something in your life to help strengthen you through the trials you share with her.
As for your boss, I'm sure Doreen could come up with some ideas for additives you could slip into her coffee ... untraceable ...

Kim, my thoughts are prayers are with you and your family. I pray all goes well for your sister, and as hard as it may seem it is ok to be happy about wows in your life, it doesn't change how you feel about your sister and all the crap she is going through.

You are entitled to be happy, you've done a lot of hard work on this.
Besides, if you were still heavy, do you think you could have done all you have for your sister? Happiness helps people be strong, and share that strength with others when they need strength. Unless you are happy with yourself, about yourself, it's going to be very difficult to be selfless to others. You are a very good sister to your sister, so don't berate yourself.
As for you boss, sorry to hear about that, but what goes around comes around, so I'm sure your boss will get her desserts.
Prayers and thoughts for your sister.

That is bull sh-t about the day off. Just knowing what is going on they should have no trouble giving you the time off. Especially knowing her state of mind, that should be ample reason for your boss to give you time off. I consider it an emergency if she refuses to have the surgery and you need to be there to drag her kicking and screaming.
As for feeling guilty, don't. You need some bright spots with all the bad going on, otherwise you could get seriously depressed. Your sister, I'm sure, is thrilled for you and how hard you've worked and I'm sure she wants the best for you like you want the best for her.

I am so sorry.... You should not feel sorry for your post. It does not mean that you dont love your sister. It is ok to be happy about one thing but concerned about another. I will say a prayer for your sister and your family. Good Bless and keep you all ... ((((hugs and prayers)))) dixie
