My daughter's a chunky monkey, as I have mentioned before. She has not yet started her times of the month, so I know she has some adolescent fat to shed, but she is a bit bigger than her friends, as both her dad (now healthy weight) and I were. She enjoys basketball, and shoots very well, but is not as fast as she maybe could be, and is often looked over by the coaches because of her size.
Some prep discussion here...My son (now almost 18) watches every food he eats since he thinned out after puberty. (a small ameobic infection helped jump start it...don't trust the water at Yosemite.

) Last week when I was going to the market, he said, "Mom, you don't buy crap anymore. I NEED Oreos!" Beth balked, saying we don't need any crap in the house. I told Beth I would get the Oreos, but Grant would keep it in his room for himself and his friends. When in the cookie aisle, I offered to buy some iced oatmeals for DH and Beth, but she said no...please, no. *shrugs* so I didn't.
Monday, Beth called me at work and asked about Beyonce's cleansing diet which was one of those lemonade/cayenne/maple syrup water concoctions to clean out the system and lose weight. I told Beth that was not healthy, and although she would not die on it for one day, I wished Beth chose another healthier option.
30 mins later there was an email with a three day diet which touted to lose 10 lbs in that time. It was well balanced, IMV, so we went that night to collect the items. Tuna/chicken/veggies/fruit. She has stuck to it, Tues/Wed/ and breakfast today.
I am actually quite proud of her. I explained that although she may not lose 10 lbs, she will definitely lose a crapload of water weight and feel better. I also said that the diet items can be substituted for similar items for a lifetime of healthy eating.
She has asked that I 1) not bug her about it, and 2) not tell her dad. 1) I will do my best to not bug her, as my mother harassed me when I was her age. 2) I have only told DH that it looks as though Beth has turned a new leaf in her eating.
So away she goes on the journey. If you be the praying type, please pray for her new focus to healthier eating. Thanks.
