My surgery is in a week (Feb 9) and I still has not told any friends. The only ones who know are my mom, sister and husband. I still have not even told work.

I decided that I wasn't going to tell very many people because I didn't want to hear their negative remarks. I told my mom, kids and husband of course and a few friends. All were good remarks except one. O well, I did what I wanted and would do it over again. You go girl and do what is right for you!!!
I only told close family and a few friends. My brother and mother started with the horror stories and I could never do that and I said its not you its me. And do you think I will live to see another ten years the way I am now? That gave them pause and in the end they knew I was right. Take the risk which is so much smaller now then when the surgery first came out. Or let my diabetes and high almost uncontrollable blood pressure kill me, and they are not the only two problems I have had because of my weight. So in the end you have to think about who you are telling and if you do not know that person well enough to believe you know what they will say then wait. And as for work I think that you getting surgery is not their business only to the point that you will be out for surgery and how long ect but the actual surgery is none of their business.

Oh, Spikey I heard your words with my mothers voice so ofte" how's your diet going?" and I feel the same way after hearing them. So I to am trying to decide who to tell. But I live with her (she has cardiac problems) so I gotta tell her....sometime. But Hmm, others, they would notice soon.
Been there and heard every nasty comment someone has had to say about the surgery. I purposely didn't tell my family members until after the surgery because I didn't want to hear anything else. This was a decision to save my life not theirs. Even one year later I still hear my family members make stupid comments but you know what I don't care because I look better than them anyway and they are just jealous.....lol My mother, sister, husband and kids supports me every step and thats all that matters to me.
My step dad was the same way and said I could lose it other ways but I couldn't.He said I would regret it.Well I dont and I am 4 weeks post op and I would do it all over again!Many blessings to you!You will do great!
