Our marriage is rock solid and he's my best friend. I just want to help insure that it stays that way, post surgery. Besides great communication, is there anything you suggest I do to help things stay wonderful, as I change?

Every relationship is different and no one knows your love like you do. If it is solid now, it will most likely remain solid. Its all about work. You have to work together and listen to each other and make every day count. True love will conquer all so surgery or no surgery I'm sure you will always be happy in your relationship if you both work at it! Congratulations on your upcoming date and I hope it only brings you better health and a ton of happiness!

Quite often the spouse watching the WLS patient losing gobs and gobs of weight and becoming a sexy creature has pangs of concern about the attention the patient is now getting from all directions. Many husbands have worried about their wives' loyalty. Could they be persuaded to wander? Some have, most haven't, but that doesn't always cure perception.

You may want to spend a little extra time with your husband convincing him that, although you may be flattered by all the attention, you only have eyes for him. And don't spend too much time bragging about all the guys whistling at you and calling you a hot mama! It may be new and exciting and something that blows you away, but it looks different from his point of view.

We have a rock solid marriage, and one day my wife admitted to me that she had had a few pangs of concern on this score. She put it behind her because of the trust we have in each other, but if it can happen in a good relationship, it can and does rip up weak ones. Now that she has had RNY last month, I'm just waiting for her to start getting the comments. I think she's gonna have so much fun with it ...
