hey there. 11 years ago i had the same from my friends!! the ones that are my true friends still are and think i made the best move of my life. The ones that faded away which is heart breakin ( i had one that was there for the birth of my 2 kids)i think they lost there comfort zone, i was always good old reliable me.always there as a babysitter, or if they need a run in the car somewhere, as after all ......they knew i did not have a fantastic social life and shyed away from going out. but when i started to loose weight i got noticed more and was not the comfortable wallflower they were used too! your true friends will support you in decision. and help you in your change, because when you loose weight it is not just the outside that changes , but your inside will too. you will want to do the things that you have never been able to do before!!!!!!!!!!! I remember how i felt when the weight started to fade away and i could lean over the bath to wash my kids, with out getting out of breath, and the way there hair smelled when i could manage to sit them on my knee(i could not before because my stomach nearly cover my knees when sitting) at night and read them a story before bed. The things that some take for granted, i found awesome. you have to go with what your heart tells you, and the reasons why you are doing this. before you have got this far you know things have to change. i imagined what i would have been like in 10 years on .......bigger, more tired, more illnesses, and kids that would have never had a mum they deserved..........more to the point i wasnt sure that i would have seen 10 years with out the surgery.11 years on i do not regret a thing, yes there has been a few bad times, but i struggle to remember what they were , because i have a life now, a full and happy one , where i take part in this world and do not stand on the side lines and watch it go past me.
good luck , thought are with you

I do hope everything stays together. I don't see myself losing friendships, but I do see some of them becoming a bit uncomfortable simply because they won't be comfortable with the new me. As one friend put it, 'you'll be very foreign'. I understand what they mean...it has to be weird seeing your friend turn into someone else, but they can get over it! I have wanted this surgery for years, and in the states with no insurance it was impossible for me. I was blessed with living in Norway now and having access to the incredible health system here. Its now or never for me so I am running with it I just hope I don't get skinnier than my friends, then they will really hate me

Girl all I can say is you do what you want to do. You are the only one that truly knows you here on this earth. If you want to be happy you have the choice to be happy. No one can make you happy. It's a choice.
I am sure your friends love you but they just need to keep their comments to themselves. They don't know what it is like walking in your shoes.
I wish you the best.
