Like the Perfesser I told no one but my spouse. Not my sons, not my parents or even my best friend. For me this decision was very, very personal and very private. I decided on WLS for me. First thing this morning my secretary and a colleague asked me if I'd lost weight; that my face looked thinner. I thanked them, told them "Yes" I had lost weight. They asked how & I replied, "Through good nutrition & exercise." Which by the way is true. You should do what is right for you keeping in mind the future consequences of gossipers and rumor mungors should you decided to share. It's your decision.

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

You were very truthful in what you told them. Make sure you don't tell any lies, because they'll remember them and toss them back at you should you ever divulge your WLS secret. I did something similar to what you did, but I blamed it on my gallbladder surgery, which I was very open about. (The fact that it occurred within the WLS was not disclosed for another 8 months! )

You are so right Perfesser about what you say coming back to you. When I decided to have my surgery I went throught the pre-op visits without telling anyone. When I got my date "for sure" I told my kids (teenagers) and no-one else and got myself ready and then told people after the surgery so I didn't have to listen to "advise" about the decision - they had to listen to my decision. But I don't mind now talking about it - I have a sister who I always tease about working for the "Sun-times newspaper" because she has a big mouth and spreads everyone else's business but hides her own So I made sure the news came from me. (although she found people to tell first anyhow)
