Default sorry to vent, but

my sister moved in with me last Feb and so far hasn't been able to find a job. She has been looking but not as diligently as I would be doing, but I'm trying my best not to judge.

Anyway, last night she had an total meltdown about how she was missing all her friends, didn't have a job, was miserable, etc. I know she's hurting and she's very worried about money and she is in a depression (she's on Zoloft and works with a therapist), but I get so tired of her pity parties; they happen about every 6 weeks.

In the meantime, I'm working myself to death to hold on to my job (our only source of income) and have my surgery coming up in less than 4 weeks. Is it too much to ask her to focus on someone other than herself for once???

Sorry, had to vent. Thank God for this board. Think of all I save not having to go to therapy!

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

You have to tell her. It is not fair to you. You will need to focus on yourself during this wonderful journey you are about to take. It is time to think about yourself and tell her she needs to take care of herself. Hang in there. It will get better.

Sometimes the best thing you can do for someone is ro tell them to get up and stand on their own two feet.

Sounds like a candid discussion with Sis is in order. Even though you love her & you're trying to help her sometimes people in a rut need a wake up call, kind of a kick in the butt to get them motivated. Perhaps even giving her a deadline to obtain some type of job may be in order. Sometimes tough love is the best love. Good luck.

At a minimum, you need some domestic help around the house for awhile after surgery. If she's going to stay, she has to pay, and if it's gotta be labor she pays with, well, you can use the help!

great ideas and advice! We did have a long talk this morning and I told her frankly that I needed her full attention and support during and after the surgery. We also agreed that she would start keeping the house clean and handle the cooking and cleaning until she gets a job. Hopefully this will work.

Thank you all so much for the kind words and advice!
