| How Did We Let It Get This Bad?
I was reading the DH entry here today. It got me thinking about us as a couple. I mean where did we go so so wrong in our thinking and let ourselves go to the point of morbid obesity? I mean when I married I weighed 135 and he was 210 which was not bad at 6"1". But how did we get so so far off the beaten track?
I am just so happy we found a foothold and got back on the right path.....
Wow I cannot believe the difference looking at these pics and yet I see us every day...
Sometimes it helps to look back to see how far we have come...

When we met I was 219 and he was 260 ....The sex made him lose weight and the comfort made me gain. Now 5 yeras later the comfort has made him start gaining weight back he got down to 190 .... Food is something we will always have in common we love to cook and eat but long gone are the days of sitting naked in bed watching a movie eating ice cream and drinking wine. Diabeties took over his life and my weight got out of control . Our love is different now deep and true not wild and passionate.
I suppose we just need to support each other in every way we can to ensure a long healthy future . You two look awsome keep up the good work!

| If You Love Each Other
If you truly love each other you can do it together. But in my case I had to decide I loved myself enough to leave him (had other issues as well) because he refused to look at reality. He is a dreamer and his attitude towards life controlled me. Now he has seen that and is working very hard to work with me instead of against me. But we will see how long it lasts. Should things ever return to the point like last year where I wanted to step in front of a bus then I will not hesitate to leave him again.
I think this whole journey for me has been to feel good about what I see in the mirror and how I feel inside. I need to be true to me first or else I cannot offer him what he needs out of the relationship. If he cannot support me, work with me to be healthy, and work towards some of my goals with me...I WOULD RATHER BE ALONE....It sure is a journey this life together...But the one thing I am not afraid of anymore is to be alone...and he knows it...so we shall see if that is motivation enough to keep him going with me
Complicated stuff this marriage...laughing

I agree that marriage is complicated. My husband is co-dependent most of the time, but I think he is enjoying being the king of the castle while I am staying across town until my drain comes out. (2 puppies- 1 appx 50 pounds and a drain do not sound like a good mix-I don't want to end up back in the hospital). This will be interesting because he is a sabateur so it will be a learning experience for both of us. I hope I don't have to do anything as drastic as leave but I can't make promises at this time, I have to look out for me.
I wish you the best and hope that your reconciliation works and that you are both happier than ever.

Initially, I had only read your first post in this thread when I responded. I thought you two had taken the journey together and were supporting one another. As I read on, your second comment told me what you were really trying to say. I wish you well in your journey and hope he is now willing to do those things you need for support. Take things one day at a time! BTW congrats on your great weight loss. You are an inspiration to me!

| I think we get so wrapped up in everyday life and so comfortable in our marriages that we just live and let live, eat and let eat and dont look back...now sometimes our marriages are rocky along that trip and then we eat to fullfil our needs also...food is our best friend, right ? I do think this surgery makes us more independent, we see our beautiful selves comming back to life and realize how great life is and dont want to live with all the excess baggage, we want a new start in life in every aspect, after all we were born again, right ? Also all the complients we are getting since the surgery the raves the marvels makes us think hmmm do we really need them, after all there is anew guy around every corner lol...but its no better around that corner usally , same stuff different day, I am so proud and happy for ou that you didnt take the easy road out and have fought for making your marriage work, you show us how strong you are in so man ways, the two of you are a beautiful couple and look so happy, I hope things just keep getting better for you Now back to how did we get that way, pure neglect not just in ourselves but in our spouses our bodies our entire life, we were out of control obviously, now we have been blessed with a tool to help us get back in control, I pray daily I can hold to these tools and continue to lose, not for the vanity reason but I want to continue a healthy lifestyle, I want to grow old wathcing my family hell joining in with my family and being part of thier healthy life also. Who knows for sure what the after life brings, so we need to live each day as if its the last day of our life, enjoy it, love the ones we love, do the best we can to be a better person/spouse and be Happy, its not always easy to do but we made the right turn when we went the direction of WLS and finding R&R has defiently been a huge Bonus.Keep up the great work everyone ! Annie~

| Thanks Annie
Sometimes I think how far we have come together. And I think the grass is not greener just different so that keeps me working at it. But this time I think he is genuinely working at it too...so we will see where it goes. Hopefully we live happily ever after as two active skinny confident people. But if we don't..at least I know in myself I gave it my all with him and I could do it on my own if I have to. No more co dependancy going on here...I check it every time..I never do anything for him that he can do himself unless I want to do something nice..do things because I want to ..not because I have to...
I think when you get married there should be an escape clause ...laughing...
I am working on me and I expect him to work on him and if he doesn't then I don't want to be with him...I love him but enabling each other anymore....
So have to run we are taking the dogs for a walk....
