| A husband's point of view
Hi everyone, I'm RobinZ's husband. She sked me to sign up here and I did about a week or so ago, but haven't been on line or logged in until tonight. I think this is a great place for support and friendship and I'm glad Robin found you. She is doing really well and we are both greatful for this surgery. She was miserable before having the surgery and she had a lot of medical issues and was just getting worse and worse.
At first I didn't want her to have the surgery. I love her just the way she is and I love her size and her personality and I think she is absolutely beautiful, the most beautiful woman I ever met! I never encouraged her to lose weight and never supported her when she dieted in the past, which was not nice of me and I realize that now. I didn't know how much her weight bothered her - even though she told me - I thought she just said that because she thought that's what I wanted or something and it was opposite of what I wanted. I liked her size and that's all that mattered to me, I didn't really think about her health and she finally made me see how much and how fast her health was going downhill.
At her highest weight, 390, she had breathing problems, walking problems, high blood pressure, diabetes, she was always tired, couldn't sleep, all sorts of things. Now she's doing great and I'm so happy. All of her bad things have gone away, she's happier than she's been in years and she's healthier than she's been in years too.
So, I'm glad she had the surgery, glad she's losing weight because it has made these great changes for her. I'm enjoying buying her clothes again, she made me stop as she got bigger and bigger and didn't want new stuff anymore, now she likes when I get her something new, in a smaller size.
We're going away this weekend, and I know she'll miss this place, but I think we'll have a nice weekend and even be able to walk around and sightsee, which we haven't been able to do in a long time.
So, that's my take on this surgery, it has changed our lives for the better and I'm glad she did it. I hope you all have had similar experiences with your husbands/wives.
Good to meet you all. I'll try to log on more often!
Mel

Mel, welcome to the supporter's club.
It's so wonderful to hear that your marriage has been envigorated and blessed by this surgery.
May you and Robin have many, many, many years of renewed joy and happiness.

Thanks, Doc. Everything related to my surgery has improved my life. From the surgery itself, the recovery, the people I have met along the way and the weight loss and improved health, my life is better. Mel and I grow closer and closer every day. I am forever thankful for the surgery and for him! He is one of the greatest blessings in my life and I have the sense to tell him every day!
And Mel, I'm glad you posted (FINALLY!) and I love what you said. I know I was probably difficult those first few weeks, well, more so than usual, and I hope I told you often enough how much I appreciated everything you did during that time. - love you, babe!

Hey Mel, it is great that you were willing to be so open with us and share all of that. I am hoping that Terrence and I will grow closer like you and Robin have instead of apart like a lot of other people tend to do. Have fun on your vacation getaway together. We will miss Robin on the board, but it is good to get away every once in awhile.

Mel, that is soooo sweet. Thanks for your view on this. I'm glad you and robinz are so much closer and able to live happier and healthier than before. I hope my guy is as supportive as you seem to be. He too likes me the way i am but also realizes all of the health benefits and how much happier i will be when i can move around walk ect. without feeling like i'm dying. i can't wait for my first trip where i can sight see by walking as long as i want. Don't be a stranger it's great to have you onboard.

Mel thanks for your perspective. I don't have a husband at this time but it is so nice to hear from others as it helps me to know what I may face if I do get married again. I had forgot that this affects all in the house. Glad you are on board and such great support now.

Keep being a support for Robin, she is blessed to have you with her.
I find my own husband being a major part of what I need, and it sure gives you the courage to keep going.
Enjoy your time away and keep us informed on how things are going.
ROBBIN
