Default Really upset how to answer negative comments

I know that there are people out there that do not agree with this procedure and I can accept that..but my own family makes remarks like " if you would just cut down on your portions and excercised you would lose weight." All my friends and co-workers support me 100%.

I guess I am just so upset because I would love to have my family support me. That would mean the most. I was concidering cancelling all of it and just say "to hell with it" . But my husband told me that I have been approved and my date has been set and that I have gone to far to turn back now.

I just don't know what to do or say that would make me feel better...

Has anyone had this issue and how do you respond to it?

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

My in-laws weren't the most supportive up front, but they've sure done a complete 180 on it now.

They see how I keep track of items and exercise and take care of myself. That alone is a great feeling.

I can only hope that once your family sees you after surgery that they will support you - I've been very luck in that respect.

Hi,I agree with your husband,do what's best for you,if it was easy for you to exercise and watch what you eat and lose weight , I think you would have and you wouldn't be considering surgery, no one but you understands the issues with weight and unfortunately some people family included don't understand.Live for yourself not for them, and Hug hubby extra tight for his support.Wishing you all the best.

1) This is not about them. This is about you!! You would be unwise to turn your back on your dreams and surrender to a lifetime of obese frustration just because they don't know what they're talking about.

2) They will never know how wrong they are unless you show them, and that means you have to keep moving forward. Listen to your husband. Sounds like he's supportive and has his head on right. Does he deserve a longer life with you? Do you deserve a longer life with him? (hint - the answer to both is "yes"!! Maybe even "HELL YES!!!!!")

3) When it gets hard, come back to your family here and vent. We'll help you any way we can.

To piggyback off of everyone else, you do whats best for you, you dont live your life for anyone but yourself and your family. Dont let that negative energy stop you from doing what you feel. Hugsssss

I had a co-worker say the exact same thing to me. Now for years she had complained about how she just couldn't lose those last 15 pounds, but she had the nerve to tell me I could do it by dieting and exercise. My response to her was "You can't even lose 15 pounds, what makes you think I can lose 100?" That shut her up.

Be honest with yourself, do you really think you can do it with diet and exercise? Some can, are you one of them? Probably not or you wouldn't be here. But if you think you can do it, go for it. This surgery should be a last resort, after you have tried everything else.

I had someone the other day telling me how dreadful and ugly the excess skin is going to be. Yet, she also asks me everyday how she can improve her diet and what helathy lunches she should bring (i've been trying to lower my tryglicerides and have been eating like a rabbit)

Ive come to the conclusion that there is no making everyone happy...someone is always going to think im making a mistake or being lazy...blah blah blah!!!

Could not have said it better myself!!!!!!!!! You look out for yourself. Don't quit because of some nay-sayers--you and your husband go ahead and "start a new life" with the surgery. And come back to your family and vent all you want!!!
