I have an AMAZING support group aas far as family and friends and of course you guys! But has anyone else noticed the ones that support you support you 100% the ones that don't won't even listen?
At first I. Heard you don't need it blah blah blah but after I explained why I did it was like a light clicked and they were all for it and very supportive! But then there are a few that will not even listen and down grade me for it, not that I care that much what people think except my dad! I just wish he would listen to me hear out what I have to say!
Any advise on how to handle this?

You are doing this for you, no one else. It is one of the most selfish things you can do, but if you die or are incapacitated, what else matters? Who ya' gonna help then?
This is so radical and misunderstood that those who know nothing about it tend to reject it, and those who understand it ... understand it! It's unfortunate that you can't always pick who gets it and who doesn't.
When I started on this journey, my wife was dead set against it until she talked with my surgeon. I told her I really wasn't asking permission, I wanted her to accept it because I'd need a ride home from the hospital. Fifteen months later she went under the knife for her own RNY.
I never told anyone else until I was at goal (by design), so I missed out on a lot of the rejection and trash talk you're getting. Just plow through it. If it's right for you, do it! If it's not, it's your decision, not someone at work or even your father. This is all about you. Good luck!!

Thank you!!! And I know its all about and for me I tell everyone this is the most selfish thing I have ever done and don't feel one bit guilty! That is how it was for my fiance after hearing your perfect you don't need it ect. I said thanks I appreciate all the wonderful words but was not asking if you thought I needed it was telling you I am doing it! And he is my biggest and proudest supporter! Even my teenage kids are happy and supportive of me just wish the dad would hear me out!

I told 3 people and of course I have this forum. I told my mother in law, husband and best friend. I stopped there. Well meaning wonderful people but i got the same reation "just exercise" "have you tried atkins" "there is a new pill on TV you should try" "you look fine the way you are" On and on and on. They love us but this surgery is beyond comprehension for A LOT of people (big and little)

I have not told many... I have told a few friends my mom and step mom, step sis, and of course my kids and fiance! I haven't told my dad yet was waiting for approval but I have seen how he talks to step sis that did it and if I say anything in her defense he goes off! My step mom was told WLS will save her life and he still tells her to do what she wants but not to count on him! I just want to say listen do not speak here me out then you can ask questions lol...

I hear ya about feeling like a little kid when you talk to your father. I went through the same feelings with my grown daughters, and I heard all the same old arguments.."Its the easy way out...you're just too lazy to do it like normal people do, blah, blah, blah. And I almost gave in, ALMOST. A couple of real good friends here gave me the advice about pulling up my girly pants, and take charge of my own life. Someone else told me that it finally "clicked" and the inner prisoner was set free. And, danged if it isn't true. I don't even have my date yet, but already am on the pre-op diet and exercising, and have more confidence than I have had since who knows when. I am doing this for ME, because I deserve a chance for a healthy lifestyle, and if some people don't support decision, they can take flying f*** at a rolling donut. 6 months ago I would never have talked like this, but taking control of my life empowered to keep on trucking!

My dad can be overbearing as well. It comes out of love. If you want to tell him, tell him. The decision is made...no discussion to be had. In the end, you will be stronger, healthier and happier. I promise!
