Unhappy need to vent

I am so sick of people who say wls is taking the easy way out This has been a mentally and phisically hard journey which i would completely do all over again It really upsets me when people make the comment of taking the easy way out So heres my question How do I explain to others this is by no means the easy way out and help them understand that not everyone can lose the weight without this life saving surgery

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

I don't really get this anymore. But when I did, I used sarcasm. "oh yeah, it's so easy to eat an ounce at a time of oatmeal or beans for each meal for a MONTH, not drink for at least 30 minutes after each meal, remember to get in all the protein, water and a stack of vitamins along with fitting in food preparation and lots of exercise. It is so much faster to fix my hair as it thins out over several months from the dramatic weight loss. Weight loss surgery is a tool, but I'm the driver."

There is no way anyone "gets" it but the ones of us that have gone and are going through it. It is by no means the easy way but it is a way that works. I don't ever try to explain it anymore. They just don't get it.

Yeah funny how some people think that, when in reality there is nothing easy about having WLS at all, we have to work as hard if not harder than anyone else trying to lose weight. I wish it were easy, I'd be at goal by now!!

I get that occasionally and just chose to ignore the ignorance. Don't these people know we can gain it all back? I liked the weight loss surgery is the tool and we are the drivers. Might have to use that as a comeback next time.

My question is when people say "I am so jealous....." How do you respond to that without hurting feelings? I guess the same way, just ignore it.

This has been a hotly discussed topic in the past, too. Here's a thread you may find interesting.

Sarcasm Alert:

Easy way out? Yeah, cuz I chose to live a dangerous and unhealthy lifestyle for as long as I possibly, knowing eventually I was just going to have major, life-saving surgery that would fix all my problems instantly. I mean, depression, isolation, infertility, predjudice, major health concerns, they all just go away as soon as you wake up from surgery, put on your size 4 jeans, and jog home from the hospital. Who wouldn't cheat the system and have their stomach removed/intestines rerouted/etc?

I guess that's why I chose not to tell anyone about my decision. A very small, select group of friends and family know (I can count them on one hand).

Good luck to you! I hope you find the support (here or elsewhere) to ease your transition. <3
