| Supportive Spouses are Awesome!
Two weeks after surgery, my husband had to go to Pittsburgh for a 15 week class. (that left me with three kids back in Georgia) He got to fly home and visit a few times so he's kept up with my recovery and has always been amazing support over the phone when my hormones were all over the place. (I think maybe he was a tiny bit glad he wasn't here in the middle of all of that?)
Fast forward to last night. He arrived home after a ten hour drive armed with goodies! He had gone to the market downtown and purchased all kinds of cheeses since he knew I could eat most of them.
This morning he gave me a present he was so proud of, he was just bursting with excitement.
I was handed a bar of home made sugar free chocolate.
Now, as a recovering food addict, chocolate and this gal have been best friends for as long as I can remember. The only chocolate I've had in the past four months has been sugar free chocolate pudding. So not the same.
He quickly made sure I knew that it was sugar free and he taste tested it before purchasing. He just wanted me to be able to taste a little chocolate on occasion.
I just adore that man of mine.
Yes, I know I can't sit and indulge. Yes, I know the sugar alcohol in it may just send me into dumping land. I am just so touched that he's really trying to make sure I do the right thing by buying the sugar free goodness.
That bar of chocolate is now safe in the freezer and I look forward to a tiny piece now and again. I've taste tested my own self a little corner and didn't have an adverse reaction.
I'm so glad to have my right hand support home again!

Congrats on the supportive hubby! He sounds like a keeper, lol. All playfulness aside, that really was sweet of him.

Fantastic....and I concur. I'm so sorry he had to leave so soon after the surgery, props to you for being strong and handling it well too.
My husband has been super helpful as well, ordering protein samples for me and all my supplements, and even purging the house of all junkfood.
It's good we have this sort of support

Is my Patrick at your house? LOL! This sounds like a memory of my own. One day we were sitting here watching a movie and suddenly he had to go get something from the store. He went to the Amish bread store here and got me a little block of sugar free fudge, some sugar free chocolate covered pretzels, some sugar free gummy bears (I never told him I couldn't eat them because of the gas they'd give me, lol), and a couple random slices of different pound cakes to nibble every now and then because they're my favorite. I thought he was going to the store to get himself something or making a sneak trip to get some kind of fast food that he hadn't been eating for ages. Sometimes, people can surprise you with how much they know about how your hormones are doing at the time.

I am so happy for you. I know what it is to have such a wonderful man. I know not everyone has one. My hub took off for 3 weeks to take care of me. Waited on me hand and foot.
I had my first sugar free pudding the other day. I ate it cautiously as I hadn't done the dessert thing yet. Tasted okay but since I wasn't used to it anymore I could take it or leave it.

I am the Queen of SF popsicles! My 7 year old son and I enjoy a couple each night. It's become our thing to do together.
