Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass    |  Uuuuuuuuugh! My oldest sister and i have always been close. She was always the pretty one; very tall 5'11" and always thin. Not skinny but you know what I mean. Anyway, i posted new pictures on my myspace page and of course she sends me an email immediately. but this one was a little rude. in fact I admit I teared up a bit. She told me I looked like walking death; like I had a terminal illness and if I didnt stop she was going to tell our mother what I did.  I know exactly why she is saying this stuff. She actually put on weight. A LOT she's over 200lbs now which is way bigger than she's ever been in my entire life. I mean she looks healthy but for some reason her gaining and my losing is causeing a conflict here...and i dont know what to do. Do I look sickly?? kenya4mos.jpg I dont think I do. Definitely thinner but not skinny and surely not ILL. my sister is the only one in my family that knows. I have not seen or spoken to anyone else in years; including my mother (long story). I was going to go down for the holidays but now I'm not so sure. It sucks to think that the only person who was a support to me all this time is slowly bu surely turning on me. I'm not sure what to do about that. Thanks for letting me ramble.

| Super Moderator  |  Awww ((((((((HUGS)))))))) Of course you look fine. I guess it's as hard for your sister to relate to the pics just as it's hard for you yourself to see the changes. There may be some *schtuff* going on in your sister's head, too, but for a family member, unless they see you in person, they may be going OMG with just the pics. Maybe if you emailed her the pic you posted in this thread, she'll be relieved? If you feel her turning her back on you, you know very well it's her problem, not yours. Sibling rivalry often pokes it ugly head in, especially if the other person is having personal issues that have nothing to do with you, but thinks it's fine to take it out on you. Kat's recent thread "Feeling hurt and sad" hit the same note, too. I am sorry you have to go through this, but it might be best not to get too close to your sister just at this moment. Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | I guess compared to the last time she saw me in person maybe i might look a bit "off". but ive been sending her pictures all along. Im sure she has her own plate with lots of things making it full. i just hate the idea of NOT being close to her as we've been best buddies my whole life... the more things "breakdown" in my life (relationships specifically), the more i realize i need to take some time just for me. I mean i cant be bothered with all the noise in the background. i have to stay focused. I have 40 lbs left to lose. when have i ever been this close in life??? I just knew the emotional stuff would be the hardest for me....anyone of us can exercise, and plan meals, drink the darn water and what not, but when your feelings get hurt it's so much harder to deal with. im going to think about this... thanks for the kind words as always doc

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | I do not think that you look ill at all! I think you look thinner but not in a bad way. My husband was just sitting here and I explained the situation and he said that he thinks you look much healthier. So koodos to you from my husband  I often worry about once I have the surgery if I will look sick or anything. I think what people dont understand though is that if you have been heavier or "thicker" most of your life and now you have lost weight to be much less then you ever have of course your gonna look thin. You are thin - skinnier - whichever words you want to use to describe. People whether it is our family or friends will make comments - easier said then done but take their comments with a grain of salt. I know when it comes to family it may be much harder because thats where you want the unconditional support. Sometimes that support isnt there - maybe it is jealousy or resentment because you look really good and healthy and they arent use to that. I hope all goes well and dont ever think that you look unhealthy or ill you look thinner and healthier! You should be proud of yourself! But we are always here to support you and we will all tell you the truth I hope you have a great day Kenya!

 | You look absolutely great! There is a woman in my office who is moody to put it lightly. Anyway we have always been the same size. When I first started loosing she was my biggest cheerleader. Now she is finding fault with everything I wear and do. I sell Silpada Designs Jewelry so of course I wear it. Yesterday she told me I was over doing the jewelry because I have on a watch on one arm and a couple of bracelets on the other. Then later I was helping one of my employees with her computer and this woman starts yelling across the aisle to her about what went wrong with her own computer. Then she gets up, shoves her way in front of me and says, "excuse me" and proceeds to do all the things I was telling my employee to do. So I just walked away. BTW she is my work leader so there is not a whole lot I can do about her behavior. I live 1,000 miles from home so my friends here are my family. I understand how it hurts. What really gets me is this woman was off for six weeks the same time I was for surgery. When she came back she quit wearing make up because she got used to not wearing when she was off. She is blonde and really needs at least mascara. She dresses like a slob and never combs her hair and then she picks on me for making my appearance better. It's jealousy pure and simple. Your sister will eventually accept it all and be back to her old self. Its just a shock for her to be the big one instead of you. You know how some of us feel like we lose our identity along with the weight, well your sister is losing hers of being the smaller pretty one. Now YOU are the smaller pretty one.

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | So sorry Kenya. That is rough. You are not alone though. I am starting to get some weird vibs from my sister and my mother. My mom actually complained last night about how fast I was losing and that she was stalled on the scales. Mind you she is at least 60lbs lighter than me still. I just smiled and told her "Well if you don't want me to catch you, you better start moving" and then I just laughed. I know I will have some problems with my sister, she can't stand not being the smallest one. She even completes with her daughter. Her daughter has been overweight most of her life. She is going to weight watchers now and loosing at a steady pace and my sister doesnt' like it. Hang in there, things will right themselves.
